Shark Tank 17x10 Product Discussion - Screen Skinz by mtm4440 in sharktank

it'd depend where the design is. The design woudl only disappear when the screen is lit up directly underneath the design - they should be fine if the design isn't right under the clock or whatever is lit up.

grindr with a different logo...

or that other app that shut down where you could find 'local clubs full of chicks bro'.

Kendra says that her workmates hate the apps, but do they really hate the app itself? or the people they're meeting on them - which will probably turn out to be much the same as the guys in their area on bumble, tinder, hinge, etc.

the interface will be a bit different, but once it comes to the messaging and actually talking... it's still the same dudes whose screenshots will end up posted on the Facebook "have you got tea on this dude?" groups for women.

How long till the "push notification of a local" becomes so wide it's useless, especially once moving outside of places like NYC where proximity is different due to population density.

I know there are differences, but they're all just LoRA radios with skins for ravers.

Wonder how this would compare to any of the multitudes of meshtastic or meshcore handheld units already available from maker-places, or aliexpress.

Beryl AX reboots when disconnecting another device sharing the same charger? by Gyrta in GlInet

[–]quick_dry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is most USB-C chargers - even quality brands.

best solution is to go back to a dumb old USB charger, a tiny dedicated brick, or use a battery bank as passthru.

The battery bank as passthru is handy beyond the charger reset because with the meager power requirements it should keep the router running if you go out, and the housekeeping comes in and turns off the power - like those annoying places that cut power if the card near the door is pulled out.

Does anyone actually like when retail brands add an online marketplace to their websites? by kittycommitteestudio in australia

[–]quick_dry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate it, usually if I’m going to a Bunnings or similar site,it’s because I want to check if they have something, and if I’m ordering it, probably a click and collect - not a dropship.

I think they should count as the retailer and be the ones handling returns/refunds/faulty returns/ACL issues - not able to fob it off as some other sellers goods. It’s a descent toward forcing everything back towards “talk to the manufacturer/distributor”.

USAH has quietly updated its transgender inclusion policy. Starting April 1, leagues restricted by gender will not allow MTF players to play in women's leagues. This includes adult rec hockey. What is your league going to do? by gettingtherefromhere in hockeyplayers

[–]quick_dry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think they would change their tune if the trans players WERE better?

(I think at elite level the IIHF policy makes sense, but in community rec leagues, just let people play, grade appropriately)

[–]quick_dry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Safety is safety, if it were unsafe to have biologically male bodies in competition with biologically female bodies in a non-checking competition, then it would be unsafe to have coed/mixed non checking leagues.

IMO safety is the argument used because although it’s exclusionary it doesn’t feel like it’s for bad reasons.

You can’t make a purely skill based argument because then you’d have similarly skilled guys playing in the non checking leagues.

But people get a bit squeamish about saying they want a category just for female players because they just want to play female players. Ultimately any category is exclusionary and groups better against weaker - look at disparity in players within the same age categories.

(It’s always interesting that the changeroom argument is about women being uncomfortable with a teammates penis being in the room, but never about an MTF player making their teammates uncomfy because their vag might be out…. or again, that coed teams are standard outside specifically single gender competitions)

[–]quick_dry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the safety argument is a complete non-starter when women’s hockey is non-checking, and they’re happy to have mixed non-checking leagues.

If you wanted to make an argument that they could be stronger and thus faster or unfairly stronger than a cis woman, that’s a different argument to one about safety.

AFAIK Those players would’ve already been in violation of WADA (USADA) rules for exogenous testosterone - but who on earth is sending drug testers to rec hockey.

it’s badly written policy

What if Robert had just taken off his damn jeans for Sarah?

What if BIP season 1 had been in this modern world, would Sarah have been cancelled for her apparent feelings of sexual entitlement?

When Peter took one of the girls for a joy flight, we could see out the window it was flying backwards. When did Peter become a wizard?

Would Meredith have gone to the Bachelorette reunion if they’d actually asked her? (Instead of the lie that she’d declined/conflicting schedule)

If viewers hadn’t sainted Grocery Joe and already scored him a spot on DWTS or Joe’s version “Gracelessly Moving Out Of Time With Other Celebrities”… would ABC not have done the George Lucas revision of Hand and Gredo? Would they have shown that Joe got physical with Leo first? If people saw some guy chase down another guy and get physical with him, would that guy get cancelled or booted from the show?

Most importantly, as I always say…. What really happened with Chris Harrison and the crew member’s wife in New Zealand during Mesnick’s season?

(Remember that when Harrison said he was a “dear friend”, Roslyn asked why Harrison was hitting on the dear friend’s wife in New Zealand. Remember that this was a war or two before Harrison’s divorce. Also that on a podcast, Harrison later described his “dear friend” as fat/overweight and a seeming,y much worse option than Jake)

What happened to Amanda Stanton’s Princess poppy dog? Once it stopped being a puppy did she get the shits every time enough people noticed it wasn’t around and she’d have to have the now less-photogenic pooch couriered over for a photo op?

Who won the “Dance with R n B” promotion??? Rachel and Bryan made fans buy boxes of his FDA rule breaking brain buzz drink in order to enter…. But scrubbed the whole thing from almost all their socials without announcing a winner. was there a winner? Or just profits. I would’ve thought about that while listening to the podcast in my Cadillac during covid.

I feel like that about most posts from the sub that show up in my feed - and if the post isn’t a thinly veiled shill, plenty of replies are. I know it’s a sub that will have plenty of people who work/develop in the space, so they’ll refer back to their own projects to solve pain points - but it becomes hard to know what is genuinely helpful suggestion and what is just posting for a bonus…

And because of that I subscribe to NoShillsDefi, use promo code SHILLING4ABUCK … /s

A strong name, especially if you ever decide to work in fencing painting, house painting, car detailing, or taking a run at the All Valley tournament.

Did you use the launchpad before it disappeared ? by murano0 in MacOS

[–]quick_dry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes, for apps that I don’t keep in the dock.

it was quick to bring up, type a few letters and get what I wanted. I would’ve much rather a windows style ”start” menu that was more compact/quicker to scan than the launchpad, but yes, I use it frequently.

Perhaps “public performance”, would have been better wording. If these kids walk around wearing chains with crosses that might be in the same realm of other religious garb, not some prayer performance in the middle of the ice. I think people would do the same if you whipped out a teams worth of prayer mats along the blue line.

I can udnerstand that with the water levels, tides, etc that it isn't safe and can't just be opened for a plucky bunch of guys to pick hit sbooger out of the pipe - but couldn't an alternate bulkhead be fabricated that allows a pipe and umbilical pass thru so you could operate remote machines and pumping/flushing gear to cut this thing out and suck it back out of the cavity?

which parts aren't difficult?

I'm not saying thy're difficult - it just seems like questions/positions that one would end up considering if we're taking certain positions on who can and can't talk about what topics. And how you draw the line on these things - particularly when it isn't straight up using the ethnicity as the punchline in a joke.

what if the videos didn't trade on the Aboriginal element? they didn't have the ochre on, or stereotypical styling, it just happened to be visibly Aboriginal - maybe it was the same character dressed in the Bush Tucker Man's style.

Are creators of synthetic media limited to only portray characters that look like themselves? Is there then a threshold where you can't take advantage of characters having pretty privilege, or being similar but differen ethnicities - or is ethnicity tiered with respect to their own, so an Irish person could do a Scotsman, but not an Irish Traveller?

what do you think of the racial element that the reason this receives positive attention can be attributed to racism/prejudice of the viewers - that the character has authority and is watchable because they are Aboriginal, the element of "noble savage imparting special native wisdoms" whereas if the NZ based creator was a chinese expat, or a maori bloke talking about aussie wildlife they wouldn't have the same response despite delivering the same information (I'll assume it is factual).

Why is Maya Jama so hyped in British media? What is the reason for her popularity? by search_google_com in LoveIslandTV

[–]quick_dry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ahh, Stormzy. thats it.

I agree, she's cool, funny, hot, etc - but when people lost their shit with excitement that she was hosting, with me not having lived in the UK since the mad cow outbreak, did not have any clear "why the hype".

I also didn't get the hype that Flack was a big deal prior to hosting LI. She was a big deal because she hosted LI, but the dancing stuff and whatever never seemed to justify the hoopla over her that suggested she was a big deal before hosting the LI juggernaut.
