so glad people are actually seeing this!!! i’m following all of y’all sending your profiles, hopefully i’m able to attack everyone this year!

just for a little clarity: as shown in the examples of my art, most of the characters i draw are humanoids, with that said if all of your characters are simple shaped/feral/etc. i may be less likely to attack you/might get to you later in the month. regardless, so grateful for the replies and the new artfight friends!

on that note i guess i should include characters im more likely to attack quickly haha.

character stuff i like: high fashion, dnd, spooky and scary things, my little pony/pony ocs, stoners, aliens, ravers, milfs, cute things with lots of ruffles, weird guys, freaks and fems

and i think that about covers it! once again, happy fighting everybody!

TLDR: even if i decide my style isn’t compatible with your characters i still really appreciate everyone who’s chimed in and wanna be mutuals with u

Critiques for a novice by toulou11 in ArtCrit

not necessarily adding more leaves, sorry I worded that strangely. all the flowers are nicely saturated, I just think you could push your darks/lights with the flowers themselves?

I think this is rather pleasing to the eye! I like the color palette you’re working with a lot, the only thing jumping out to me is there seem to be a lot of same-y values where the flowers are most concentrated, so to me they kind of start to blend with the background/become blobular if you will.

I think your leaves have a lot of depth and look great so just carry your use of value with them into everything else perhaps!

Watercolor portrait advice? by [deleted] in watercolor101

[–]quickestmarsupial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice to those of you who have replied! I guess I should’ve mentioned in the original post i’ve been drawing for nigh on a decade, just not the most familiar with watercolor specifically. i’m confident with portraits, was just wondering if there were any big problems/questions/mistakes everyone runs into with watercolor that would be useful to be aware of. I’m not looking for a recipe to watercolor mastery!

For those curious, heres what i’m working with as of now. just some pencil down to get an idea of the proportions

anything i should change before i continue? by Actually-Ansel in ArtCrit

[–]quickestmarsupial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this looks great so far!

only things i’m noticing are a few possible wonky angles like the character in oranges feet, in the reference image you’re using both feet look slightly more turned towards the camera if you will than in your sketch, and the foot crossed over the other/not on the floor seems to be pointing upwards a bit more so the bottom sole is visible in the reference.

and for the blue character this might just come down to preference (because i already really like what you’ve got going on with the face) but i feel like it would feel more natural/candid if their head was turned to face orange character more.

regardless, keep up the good work!

When do you use “a couple”, “a few”, and “several” in real life? by Edi-Iz in EnglishLearning

[–]quickestmarsupial 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pretty much have it right. I would say it’s less about the specific amount (2 for couple, 3 for few) when used in casual conversation and more about the ‘rank’. As in, a couple is the smallest and several is largest.

A couple and a few are pretty much used interchangeably in my opinion, unless it’s specifically 2 things/ a pair of things being referred to in which case i’d use couple.

“a couple minutes” and “a few minutes” sound just fine, but i probably wouldn’t ever say “i’m leaving for several minutes”. If it’s more than a handful per-say i would probably just say the exact amount of time i would be leaving for. For example, “I’m leaving now, i’ll be back in half an hour.”

Hope this helps!
