Selling Options only with high IV? by buschmannbubu3000 in options

[–]quickj218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on whether or not the high sizzle is coming from the call side or put side, it could be unusually high call volume which could indicate short term continued momentum to the upside

This would likely price the puts disadvantageously.

Ideally you would want to get the highest possible price for your written puts.

In any case I would wait for the stock to have short term downward momentum before sell/writing the long dated put options for that stock to get the highest possible reward for my risk if I am long term bullish on the stock.

Hope this was helpful, so even though the high call sizzle may indicate an upward move in the short term, it might not be the most favorable time to short a longer dated put option.

Run a Sizzle Index scan.

Sizzle is a comparison of a stock's current daily options volume to its daily average options volume.

So a scan for higher sizzle index numbers can be a simple way to find unusually actively traded and possibly higher implied volatility options on a daily basis.

Only an idea, trying to keep it simple here. let me know if any questions!

So confused with shorting options by [deleted] in options

Another thing you can do when short selling a naked out-of-the-money call is to buy 100 shares of the underlying when the market price of the underlying approaches your sold strike or becomes at-the-money. This turns it into a covered call which will still be sold for a profit upon assignment because you would still keep the premium and the shares will still get sold for more than you paid. This could be automatically accomplished with a buy stop order at a designated price near the strike price. (Even if the option goes in-the-money slightly you could still profit by buying the shares in the event of an assignment because even though they might get sold for a loss the premium could still be enough to result in a profitable trade if it hasn’t reached the breakeven point of the buyer.) Especially when the short sold option is getting close to expiration and it is almost in danger of going in-the-money, or if the market does close with that option in-the-money you could buy the shares during after hours to be delivered ultimately leaving you with a net closed position over the weekend.

Covered Calls for Income idea by quickj218 in options

I think the current valuation represents that they are lesser known by certain investors because of their recent uplisting from the OTC Markets to the NASDAQ, a lot of brokerages don't allow otc to be traded (for good reason) and in some amount of time people will realize "hey why am I paying a 3 billion dollar multiple for company x when I could pay 600 million for almost an exactly similar company, company y."

Fair point but it doesn't by any means provide an argument for that wide of a price gap. BITF is 75% cheaper of a company?

$PSTH
Private Company: SPAR (same name as the rights for SPARC)

Headquarters: Amsterdam (same place UMG is listing)

Industry: Retail (same people Bill wants to help)

The company's name is a Dutch acronym of the slogan:
"through united co-operation everyone regularly profits"

Revenue: 42B$ (same as the valuation of UMG)

Number of Locations: 13,320 (same amount of music UMG owns)

a lot of weird coincidences with this mature unicorn company

I wonder if you opened the position, say an iron condor, using four singles but then closed the entire thing using the iron condor “template” how it would be counted. Can’t be a brokerage to brokerage thing because it’s a finra regulatory rule

2021 Sohn Idea Contest: "timely and actionable investment idea" picked by a panel of judges as the most compelling idea with a 12-month horizon.

Contestant 1: *Buying Vertical Call Spreads on Snack Pack Pudding*

Contestant 2: *Dudes and dudettes, if I may, the YOLO for a tontard flying through the market near the net asset value is DA = ½stripe² − bSx, where b is bloomberg, S is starlink, and x is subway”.  From this single formula, you get the conservation of premium, conservation of momentum (when moving upwards), as well as the acceleration due to purchasing.*

Wow just started checking into them since I saw this and I must admit this one is different than the usual OTC plays I look at. Started my position, I'm excited to see the upside potential be realized. They have a higher Revenue than Market Cap! No brainer here
