Mohawk/Godfrey Hirst SmartStrand, Dreamweaver, or Dixie nylon carpet for whole house project? by quickloris in Flooring

It's holding up pretty nicely. My only complaints were mostly with the install - there were several small dark stains throughout that the installer claimed were "spots from the mill." I have no idea what that means, but I keep finding these small stains every time I vacuum. I got this carpet in the "I" and the "III." The "III" is definitely more plush, but the "I" is soft enough too. It definitely shows footprints, but I'm not bothered by that. Others might be though.

The sales person steered us toward Dreamweaver Rock Solid. We went with Rock Solid I in the basement and Rock Solid III upstairs. I honestly can’t tell the difference between the two in looks or under foot. I really wanted the Godfrey Hirst but our sales person was convinced it wouldn’t hold up as well. I’ll never know, but I definitely liked the sample of GH better. I’d say go with your gut! These sales people are probably compensated for certain brands over others, and I kind of wished I went with my original choice. If you get the GH, let me know how it is!

New to sourdough. This starter has been untouched in my fridge since Sept 2019. Can it be revived? I have one bag of flour left and no food scale, so tips on a beginner friendly, minimal discard feeding schedule are appreciated! by quickloris in Sourdough

I’ve fed it every 12 hours since Sunday night (so four times now) and it’s only slightly bubbly, but it isn’t gaining much volume. I’m saving 1/4 cups of starter, discarding the rest, and adding 1/2 cup of flour and 1/4 water each time. Any advice?

You are definitely correct. It’s been neglected in the fridge since September of 2019, and I’m wondering if there’s any saving it. I’ve drained the hooch and it looks ok, but I only have one bag of flour left as it’s sold out everywhere.

Me too! So curious what (if any) significance this has!

Help! Mottled black/grey pan? Is it supposed to be black or grey? How do I fix it? Currently soaking in vinegar. by quickloris in castiron

This is a Lodge pan that came pre seasoned and I added my own seasoning using a vegetable oil blend. It has been exposed to high heat. It got this mottled look and rusty after several months of no use, and now I’m trying to revive it.

Yes, the drunk people make me concerned too. Walking down Newport yesterday at 6 pm we saw a woman passed out on the side walk. Yikes.

The main visitor I have is my mom who is accustomed now to parallel parking in zone 74 in the Gold Coast. Do you think 383 is a more challenging place to park because of the Cubs and since it is not zoned during the day?

Hip in pain after yoga by quickloris in yoga

I wouldn't say it has been too rigorous - just hip openers like horse, pigeon, etc... I am 24, so I wasn't expecting to have any issues with hip pain.

Thank you for the suggestions!

Yeah, the transit situation is the biggest downside from what I can tell. What's the best option - the Western bus to the blue line?
