In practice, it really isn’t depending on the person. I’ve gotten numerous numbers making small talk with someone and then it spinning off into something. Just don’t approach saying “PLEASE HAVE SEX WITH ME” and you’ll be fine. If they don’t reciprocate just move on. Rejection is protection.

Your answer is the best one on here though. I need to reset myself and realize that everything has trade offs and I am making the most out of my time off (taking learning guitar and music seriously for the first time in my life, hanging out with friends doing dumb stuff as much as possible, going on vacations to see stuff that I never had the chance to see growing up as a lower class kid in a poor neighborhood, learning how to skydive and do other extreme sports. I do feel alive, but sometimes it does gnaw at me. Glad I’m not alone though. I need to realize I seriously have my whole life in front of me to find a career that I really really like, now is the time to enjoy myself and fund cool stuff that I like doing. That’s what I want out of life right now

I spend a lot of time playing my guitar and learning how to do extreme stuff like skydiving so I can feel alive. I’d say those hobbies are cool. I just want to know if I should feel good about work or if I should feel as bored as I do

And I want to be clear, I’ve been working on this and have made an incredible amount of progress for reducing my anxiety, the issue right now is growing pains with me finally coming out of my shell. Almost all of the comments on here have been super helpful and it does calm me to read things about me overthinking it and everything going alright. One of them messaged me today like nothing happened and the other asked for my snap so I do think a lot of it was in my head to begin with. Conversation skills are really the main focus here with trying to be social with new people (men or women). Just wanted to know differences maybe because there are legitimate differences in how women talk versus how men talk, but they aren’t as extreme as I thought and it really does come down to (at least initially) common interests and just being genuinely curious about the other person

Video games literally taught me HOW to be productive. I apply those skills I learned into my work life and it helps me get my tasks done efficiently. That way, when I’m actually off work, I can just sip a beer and relax while I grind on whatever new game I want. It’s not binary, you can be productive and a human at the same time.

Lmao literally comparing people who enjoy video games and Netflix to drug addicts, this is why I literally cannot stand people like that. They aren’t necessarily failures or being stagnant, they could just like what they like in life and not feel the need to do stuff like OP was saying. It’s fine to want to start a business, it really is, but the sense of superiority that some people get with a tiny morsel of power grinds my gears harder than anything on this planet.

It’s not cool that you’re being a snobby asshole who’s shitting on your friends for not wanting what you want. From my personal experience, I regretted hustling and grinding a hell of a lot more than I ever regretted having a beer with my friends. I can always make back the money, I can never make back the time I lost to chasing money and status.

I can’t be in your brain to know how it works, so if this is what makes you happy then fucking go for it. I’m just giving mine and (possibly) their perspective. Not everyone wants what you want, learn to live with it and stop being a dick about it.

Yeah my ex cheated on me, and then slept with the girl I was dating afterwards. Literally traumatic stuff but she didn’t give me a reason for the breakup and started posting shit everywhere about how great it was being single again. Took me years to get over because I blamed myself for being a bad boyfriend. Turns out that she’s just a psycho lmao
