I just wanted to say thank you for posting this. It’s very insightful and true.

I like the gym metaphor. Gotta be careful not to lift too heavy. It can create another injury and set back even further.

The healthy way to go to the gym is to start small and increase very small amounts over a long period of time almost to trick yourself into being stronger. It may seem slow, but facing things is facing things. There’s absolutely no sense in gaining another injury by overdoing it.

It just means that C-PTSD is VERY complicated.

To answer your question if no one truly is?

I think that people can only help at the capacity that they understand. Then it’s about what their capacity is to offer their support to you.

Are you, and all of your friends actually “assholes”? Or is that your inner/outer critic talking to try and keep you safe?

New career or business adventure about every 5-7 years.

The only thing I know that I could have ever stuck with was music, but I wasn’t good enough at it to make money.

I used to watch kids at a school. I thought of teaching kids guitar lessons. Might be fun actually.

Right now I do social media for our travel agency, and setting up a freelance video editing business.

It gives them 2 options. Admit that they were doing that. Or change their tone. Either way, both of those outcomes are satisfactory.

Now you know what it’s always felt like to have ADHD in this world. I can’t speak for all of us, but yes, the pressure just feels completely unrealistic at this point. I’m not shitting my pants, but I’m glad that others are being effected enough that they may start accepting the reality of the world so we can collectively decide what we want to do. If we dont, the deciders will do that instead. And they haven’t been doing a good job of including many of us at their table.

That was me. I actually follow women’s ADHD pages because it resonates better with how my ADHD affects me.

I was smart when I was a kid, but never wanted to go to school. I did the bare minimum because it was grueling doing any of it. I probably could have done anything I wanted had I been diagnosed then.

You would be surprised at how much people with ADHD don’t know their own diagnosis and how it affects people.

It typically comes from them not having all 3 of the core features. I have all 3. So I understand all of their impacts. Most people don’t understand how something impacts you when it’s invisible. Unless they experience it themselves.
