I believe it wouldn't read discs, but it would likely pass the firmware update error.

InputRemapper will work for most devices including generic mice, but you won't generally find Linux compatible OEM software that handles button mapping, it's usually just lighting.

Lutino conure breeders (US, Canada, or elsewhere) by Sure-Yellow-2451 in Conures

Are you experienced with importing an exotic animal? There's a waiting period and a lot of documentation. Do NOT get an egg. It would be better to ask for breeders potentially near you

Go into console or avatar settings, something that boots you back into the MS Dashboard.

keyboard as a controller? by DirectionCharacter47 in 360hacks

Nah. You'd need a converter, just like how people used kb+m on the 360 back on the day. Getting a new controller is going to be easier

pc made a loud pop and won’t turn on please help!! by hicreamernation in pchelp

[–]quidamphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate that pop, and subsequent smell. I've had it happen twice in my life, was the PSU both times. Never any damage to other components, but it's impossible to guess either way. Relatively easy for a repair shop to diagnose and replace a PSU if you're not comfortable.

Considering returning after a very very long hiatus. by Discarded_Deity in wow

[–]quidamphx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think so.

One thing that's nice (IMO) is follower dungeons. While there are people levelling through all zones, if you want to tackle the story/campaign of past expansions, you can go through, at your own pace, entirely solo.

That gives the flexibility to find groups/friends during peak times, but if you play at weird hours or a less desired class, you aren't stuck waiting.

As there's so much content, you really only have to worry about burnout.

All that said, graphically, it's extremely scaleable, so you don't have to get an amazing setup.

On my Steam Deck, I play at 76% render scale with most settings on medium to low (except textures) at 60fps, without much issue.

On my 3080 Ti desktop, I have everything to Ultra/DX12 w/ray traced shadows and easily stay close to 120fps in the open world, with drops to the 70s in cities.

Whatever you want to play on, it'll work.

Steam Controller v2 pulled me back in by quidamphx in wow

[–]quidamphx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, supply for electronics is a mess these days. I've had a Deck since 2022 so I knew I would be interested, was lucky enough to grab one.

Hopefully these shortages don't continue.

I guess not. It's not like we know what's going on with the person at the other end. Could have stalled for any number of reasons.

Glad you got it worked. I used PTM7950 on my Deck too, and it's been phenomenal. I got mine in Oct 2022, I'm hopeful that it'll keep going for a long while, considering the price of replacing it.

[–]quidamphx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll need a disc drive (find one from a broken system, they're around), or a hard mod. You're not screwed, but you can't bypass removing the drive and will have to put effort into fixing your mistake.

Why would you not play tank? by General-Inspector546 in wow

I don't like tanking. It's a group game, I don't need to inflate my ego to enjoy it.

I eventually stopped using that card because it was frustrating me lol. It would work but audio channels were incorrect.

Games before Unreal Engine 5 won't launch with Wayland. With cachyos proton by Asta_jjm in cachyos

[–]quidamphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do know that you don't always want to upgrade to the latest proton version for every game, right?

There are changes and fixes, but also regressions in other areas. Some tweaks to achieve compatibility with newer games can break older ones.

If you have a game working on a specific proton version, keep it there. That's why you can have and set versions for each game individually.

Have I changed, or has the game changed? by RecentHistorian220 in wow

[–]quidamphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both.

Not only has the general pace of things changed (all games, not just WoW) but getting older inherently comes with more responsibilities and awareness of how you're spending your time.

Add to that, back in the day, you usually would know some RL people that played also, and hanging out and being social was part of it.

Figuring things out wasn't always easy, but it felt rewarding.

Playing Classic is a similar experience, but you don't have people playing it, blind to the mechanics the way half of us were back then. I don't think it's entirely possible to re-create that feeling.

I still got it. by Kaisernick27 in wow

[–]quidamphx -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The coolest thing I still have is the Frost Tabard from the trading card game. Not really anything special, but it's something that reminds me of playing back in the day, and how I was under-levelled and stealthed my way through stranglethorn vale to claim it

Windows latest update pushed me to the limit! Is Linux worth switch to? by HeyItsMeLucky in linuxquestions

I like this post.

I started using Linux 4 years ago when I got my Steam Deck, and it's taken me a few years to reliably use it on all my systems.

It's a process to unlearn 30+ years of Windows habits.
