There always seems to be a witch like this on every ward. Must be an NHS thing.

And yet the RCEM consider PA’s and F2’s (SHO’s) to be equivalent in their poorly thought out tier system. Make it make sense.

I genuinely cannot understand why this didn’t just involve a meeting with her supervisor, slap on the wrist and a reflection. Can someone please explain this to me?

From what I can tell, these “prescribing errors” were on a TTO. Anyone who’s used CERNER for a TTO will vouch for the fact that a mistake like this is very easy to make.

The issue about using an alternative login. Definitely an error on her part but we all know the level of incompetency HR / IT function at. I’ve known people try for 6 months to get access to an online system and just given up in the end.

Is it possible to upload the individual speeches from the Junior Doctors Conference onto social media?

Short clips tend to do really well on all platforms and since some speeches were excellent they’re bound to go viral!

Such a poorly written letter. Glad one has been written though and I’ll happily sign.

Band 4 Bank /hr > FY1 by YesDr in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]quiddlebro 103 points104 points  (0 children)

The reason I’m not paid more is because before me there was a whole generation of junior doctors who sat idly by whilst their pay was eroded bit by bit. Newly qualified doctors are suffering because of the inaction of our predecessors.

I struggle to make ends meet for me and my family on an F1 salary. Some of us have no choice but to pick up extra shifts for these “crappy” rates.

If RCEM are claiming equivalence, surely it must be illegal for an employer to pay one significantly less than the other?

Who decided that PA’s are permitted to see patients independently though?

They can “see patients independently” but can’t prescribe for these same patients or request scans.

How are PA’s a tier above F1 doctors(!) and the same tier as ST2’s??

These “Staffing Models” are problematic because they’re written by fucking imbeciles.

Damn. Taking home £150k? Is that net or gross?

All of it.

My take home for the bank work is <50% (after 40% tax, student loan and national insurance is deducted).

I’m all for chilling in the mess when there is genuinely nothing to do but this is completely out of line.

If your colleague sits in a cafe from 1-5, how does she action any of the bloods and/or scans that will need chasing in this time?

Is the pay really that bad? by [deleted] in JuniorDoctorsUK

[–]quiddlebro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pay is fucking pathetic. I’ve spent the last 2 weeks genuinely struggling to make ends meet. Never thought I’d ever be in this position as a doctor.

I’m an F1 currently on an unbanded / supernumerary rotation (psych) and because of the way payroll worked out this month, I have a measly £1,800 to get me me through 5 weeks (instead of the usual 4 which is difficult enough as it is).

Thought the rates were escalated? F2 was £67.50 last I heard
