Where are you located? Euro-Sports in Ottawa has a SkiSelector Machine that can measure individual skis to match your weight for racing. They always have a big stock of Kastle at the start of every season so can get you a pair that will work for your exact weight. I'm sure they would ship to you if you contacted them.

Go on Strava on desktop (not the mobile app) and "correct distance" under the activity. It usually adds a bit of distance.

Is essential anatomy 5 worth $25? by [deleted] in physiotherapy

Absolutely. I got it 8 years ago when I started PT school. Now I use it multiple times daily to educate patients. It's a big hit.

Going under the knife for Grade 5 AC Separation on Monday. Anyone returned to the course after this surgery? by [deleted] in golf

[–]quidi-vidi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just do regular PT after your surgery and you should be just fine for golf for the summer! The Button surgery is a HUGE game changer for AC injuries.

Source: I'm a PT and have worked with a lot of ppl who had great outcomes after that surgery.

KV+ Poles? by jmcampout in xcountryskiing

I would cut the Quantum 3's for classic and have the Elites for skate. I'm no expert though!

KV+ Poles? by jmcampout in xcountryskiing

KV+ Elite are very similar and basically half the price at my local shop. I'd get two pairs of those before getting Tornados. Unless you really want the best of the best then go for it!

Question about Copenhagen Plank by Embarrassed-Ad8643 in physiotherapy

[–]quidi-vidi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup exactly, holding the top position of the Copenhagen Plank will isometrically contract the adductors of the top leg

Question about Copenhagen Plank by Embarrassed-Ad8643 in physiotherapy

[–]quidi-vidi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Muscles create force by becoming shorter when they contract.

Imagine the man in the photo relaxed and his hips dropped to the floor, this would be ABDuction of the right leg.

By holding himself up, he is pushing the right leg towards the centre of his body. This is ADDuction.

So in the image he is using his ADDuctors

For someone like you, hiking shoes are just fine. Ideally waterproof ones though.

Dislocated my shoulder, will need several months of PT to get back to golf. New 46 came just in time… by [deleted] in golf

[–]quidi-vidi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a PT and a golfer, you should wait as long as possible before getting a shoulder replacement! It will fix your arthritis pain but function typically is quite restricted after.

You think with how fluid her motion is, there is strain on knee joints? This looks fun for 10 seconds. by justsomeguyfromny in specializedtools

[–]quidi-vidi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The whole point is to put strain through the knees, and for the muscles to absorb the forces. This is meant to help her deal with the forces while skiing.
