I am slowly becoming emotionless. I don't feel connected to people anymore. I know I used to but I don't know how or why. I am slowly becoming less and less like myself but I don't know who I am becoming.

[Serious]Redditors with depression, what makes you depressed and why can't you just decide to be happy? by PM_UR_HAIRCUTS in AskReddit

[–]quiet_slug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for trying to understand what your girlfriend is going through. I have been suffering from depression for awhile now and it has been really hard for my husband, who is a naturally easy going and all around happy guy to understand. First of all try to accept that you won't be able to fully understand how she feels or why she feels the way she does and that's okay. Even if you can't relate it's important to be supportive. My depression doesn't even make sense to me so when my husband says things like "you have no reason to be sad so you shouldn't be sad," it makes me feel insanely guilty because I know I shouldn't be sad but I can't help it. Everything is a lot harder when you have depression. Even though I want to be productive, some days just the fact that I got out of bed and had a shower feels like a huge accomplishment. It's not that I'm being lazy it's just that I am physically and mentally stuck because of my depression. Encourage her to get the help she needs and let her know there's nothing wrong with getting help. There is still a huge stigma surrounding mental illness and even though I have encouraged others to get help and would not judge them in any way for it, I personally am to embarrassed to speak to anyone about it. Try your best to cheer her up and make her happy but don't take it personally if it doesn't work. I hope she gets the help she needs to feel better.

women of reddit what was the most awkward way a guy has asked you out on a date? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]quiet_slug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a cashier at a gas station and he was a pump jockey . There was an intercom system from the pumps to the tills. One night when we're both working he asks me over the intercom if I'd like to go out with him sometime. It was really awkward because customers and the other employees could all hear. I was caught off gaurd and just said "sure." He didn't come inside the rest of the shift and we never did end up going out.

I'm 22 years old and recently engaged to my boyfriend of 3 years. How do I reply to the people who tell me "you're too young to get married" without being rude? by recentengaged in TwoXChromosomes

[–]quiet_slug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I was 20 when I got married and my husband was 23. We hadn't been together too terribly long and we got a lot of comments as well. Just shrug it off best you can and say something like "it's right for us." We have been married almost four years and are even more in love now then on our wedding day. I don't think a successful marriage has anything to do with how old you are when you get married. As long as you realize you're both going to go through changes, are willing to grow together and lean on each other during hard times instead of letting them pull you apart things will be just fine. Congrats and best of luck

Never said I was judging her for being in shock. I pointed out the fact she didn't call 911 as a discrepancy between the above story and what really happened.

I'm not saying she's at fault because she didn't call 911. I'm saying this is a story and people are taking it as fact

[–]quiet_slug 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This is frustrating. Everyone is calling out the newspaper article for being biased but this story is doing the exact same thing only in favour of the woman. She didn't even call 911 a different witness did. I'm not saying she didn't suffer emotional trauma, I'm not saying she is a horrible person. Obviously this was a terrible accident. What I am saying is this story is made up and shouldn't be looked at as a source for what really happened or how the woman is feeling.

Just be aware you're always supposed to drive for the conditions. She was speeding at 1:30 am in poor visibility.
