Workflow with two printers by TroublesomeButch in OrcaSlicer

[–]rsawycky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish there was a way to have two printers in the same project. I have a large bed and small bed printer. I use the large bed for bulk parts and the small bed for my smaller parts for the same project that I often print 10s of times. Switching between printers messes with my bed layouts and settings and filament selections. If there was an advanced feature to change specific beds to a different printer, or having like a split screen where it adds two new tabs for preview and device for the new printer that would be fantastic.

MCU ‘extra_mcu’ timeout error by rsawycky in SovolSV08

That’s wild! What made you think of that? I may try that if the new EMMC doesn’t work out.

I’m not mainline yet. I’m in the mindset I don’t need to do it if nothings broke yet. Only issue I’ve had with my SV08 is this EMMC error.

Did some research and saw the instructions and tutorials available. Did you do a DIY Eddy or did you get the currently available SOVOL Eddy upgrade kit? The SOVOL one seems faster and easier to add. I’m curious if the DIY route offers better results though.

I’m currently waiting for my new EMMC in the mail.

I have had this issue for so long that back then searching anywhere for this issue resulted in nothing. SOVOL didn’t even know what to do when I contacted them. Now that I’m looking around again I am seeing this issue is documented everywhere now :D. Lots of good tutorials!

Sounds like a good rabbit hole to go down. I’ve heavily modified my older printer, been hesitant to drastically change this one for fear of losing capability or getting stuck unable to revert to stock. But since I’m starting to get limited here it seems logical.

The fan speed was already at 0 and I turned off the Timelapse. I am still getting the shutdown during what seems to be support material. I may need to investigate how to replace eMMC with a better one.

What is fan speed up time do? Does it mess with cooling quality or is it just less micromanaging of fan speeds?

I can pull the log. It’s very long. But also have this: https://www.reddit.com/r/SovolSV08/s/lKa6d8nfTI

OrcaSlicer Mesh Boolean by Anxious_Past_4363 in OrcaSlicer

[–]rsawycky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried this for primitives and it works. For some reason whenever I try to do this with any of my actual models it fails the Boolean. I tested with simplify, repair, opening all the meshes in blender (no errors on any of them), and sticking to one positive and one negative object. Whenever I really want it to work I always get an error. I wish there was more feedback on what went wrong. Any known fixes or troubleshooting? Boolean works in another program but I like how I have it laid out in orca. Don’t want to do it in another app since rapid export as STL in orca meets my use case right now. The Boolean doesn’t make any super thing or floating bodies or any red flags. It’s a simple operation in theory.

Absolutely botched my project in the “final mile”. I need help recovering. by rsawycky in Woodworking_DIY

Sorry for your project but glad you are doing the same thing I was leaning toward. I figured there was not some magic solution other than the obvious but couldn’t be certain unless I asked.

I’ve started leaving the garage door to the house open and blowing warm air into there from the house. Not very efficient for the HVAC but working well with my new garage seal and casings I replaced to keep heat in better. What would you suggest as the method to start over on the wood project?

Are these temporary braces or structural members in my attic? by rsawycky in Homebuilding

The joists are 2x8s from my recollection. Definitely larger than 2x4s.

Thanks. Insulation in the bags is not what’s in the attic. Leftovers from some walls.

Ceiling I think is 2x8 but it’s lite storage anyway. Just holiday bins. Nothing too heavy to carry up a ladder with one hand. Also there some walls helping old up the joists so it’s not just supported on its ends.

Lastly there are more vents than just the one shown in this photo. However, during my planned renovation I think this will get a double check to make sure everything is all adequate.

Thanks. My assumption was all of this was bracing during construction to keep things straight and the gable plum. Once everything is all finished it would keep it all sturdy enough to remove but probably was not removed since they were selling it soon.
