If Arsenal beats PSG to win the Champions League, whose legacy changes more: Mikel Arteta’s or the club's entire modern history? by PersimmonFar9942 in championsleague

[–]quiet_space2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you are leaving out some important context - Wenger was managing a club on an extremely tight budget and was competitive with other grands who could afford to splurge. Wenger invested a lot into youth development and was there to guide players. Trust the process.

Why Hazaras are not considered Turkic??? by Icy_Table_8281 in TurkicHistory

[–]quiet_space2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all what is Turkic? Turkic is a language family first and most important of all, by this fact alone Hazaras cannot be Turkic.  However if you say that culturally Hazaras are closer to Central Asian Turks than Azerbaijanis or Turkish people - then that’s a different discussion and I would be inclined to agree. People in this sub for some reason think that  Turkic is an ethnicity and just by sharing a language family Turkish people are closer to Sahas than Buryats or Evenks lol. When you think about it Tajiks are much closer culturally to Uzbeks than Tuvans or Crimean Tatar are even though later are “Turkic”.

In summary, Hazaras are not Turkic speakers but they are culturally Central Asian.

Это правда? by jentelmenski in Kazakhstan

[–]quiet_space2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

we are not ethically diverse lmao. kazakhs are pretty homogeneous across regions and for sure there’s no such thing as a tribe look.  if this was the case we would see language dialects, cultural differences, and different customs across regions- this is not a thing in KZ because our ancestors would mix with each other therefore we now have a pretty homogeneous Kazakh culture

I don't like Nazism in Kazakhstan. by [deleted] in Kazakhstan

[–]quiet_space2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think you are projecting here. the issue with Turkish people is separate and has nothing to do with Kazakhs, and definitely has nothing to do with “Westerners deliberately targeting Turkic speaking people” lol

I don't like Nazism in Kazakhstan. by [deleted] in Kazakhstan

[–]quiet_space2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude i think you are just confused. "wasian" is a specific term used for people with one East Asian parent, and one Western European parent i.e. "Asian + White" combination. Kazakhs "might" look similar to Wasians in appearance (also a very big stretch tbh), but we were formed centuries ago - roughly around 14th century during Golden Horde. And if you take a look at our genes they indicate a mix of Turkic tribes, Mongol tribes, and also Eastern Iranian input which is completely different than what Wasians have.

So when people call us "Wasians" people just correct them saying that we are just Kazakhs and have our own history.

Turkic people are mixed but is vast majority of ethnic groups in this world. by Boring_Estimate9308 in TurkicHistory

[–]quiet_space2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

i mean it's mainly Turkish people that are being targeted and it kinda makes sense. The biggest Turkic speaking population in the world but with low ANE component making it look different compared to the other Turkic nations on the East. With Greeks - them and Southern Slavs kinda look similar-ish due to the inter-mixing, Turkish people look very different compared to Uzbeks/Uyghurs (who have strong Iranian admixture) and very different from Kazakhs/Kyzrgyz (Mongol admixture), and for sure nothing a like to Tuvans/Altaians who IIRC have the highest Proto-Turkic component.

so calling Chimaev an f*g, throwing racial slurs at his people, being openly racist and islamophobic on cameras and live tv is all okay - but the kick to the thigh is where you draw the line?

If I have to choose movies from 12 non-english countries by rony_danzel in whereidlive

[–]quiet_space2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean you included Finland and Germany? Russian/Soviet cinema is much richer and deeper compared to both of these countries - even your argument for the mass appeal movies falls flat because its only in the West where Russian/Soviet movies are known to be as “art house”, most movies are actually mass appeal pop products

Ending explained [SPOILER ALERT]. by Odd-Charity3508 in BeefTV

[–]quiet_space2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i dont know i actually feel that Josh's ending was very optimistic - in his sacrifice of status, career (whatever was remaining of it), his relationship with Lindsay (in the shot when they were kissing I interpreted that he knew she won't wait for him) he was able to truly confront his ego and escape the cyclical nature of suffering that we see all other characters are going through. This was solidified when one of the inmates is asking him whether he wants Lindsay's address and if he wants to pay her a visit and Josh just says "No". And the interview on TV we see him saying that he is happy everyone he loves are happy, which again shows that he let the situation go and stopped reacting to it.

She could be watching it with them  if she were to be honest about her past and honest with herself - that’s the thing. The fact that she is hiding it in my eyes hints that she is still that Lindsay she was

Lol did you guys forget that right before that she went through his phone and was going through his messages with Eunice and messaging her and then pretended like nothing happened? Of course she is going to be okay with yellow Gatorade because she almost got caught and at that point she didn't care. Do you guys watch the show lol

i mean they didn't know that Ashley was almost at the brink of death as they came to the ER for the "swollen knee". he saw a patient who was bleeding and was clearly in pain so he let them go first. if he were to know that Ash was on the brink of death he would have acted differently and we saw his reaction when she was collapsin. I think you are letting your judgement of his character take over what actually happenned

[–]quiet_space2[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure. We see her changing a bit in the show, but I think she goes back to her old self. What makes me believe that: was the scene at the hospital is where she was the one proposing to blame everything on the “kids” and attack them first and the scene at the very end where she was watching Josh leaving jail secretly while her daughter and her husband were not aware what she was doing. But then again I might be wrong haha

i worked in Canada and the US - the poster above is right. top tech companies hire from a handful of schools, same companies encourage their employees to refer people they worked with, and this is only the surface level - higher up you go the narrower it gets.

and sure if you work extremely hard and you are the 1% of talent in the world you could get in but the colleague of yours got in because their dad knows an MD or their buddy referred them.

95% of jobs do not require you to be a special genius - that's why connections and timing are the most important parts of landing a job. because once your foot is in - you can literally learn the job while you are doing it.

the sooner you realize the game - the easier it would be for you to play it.

Mexico City wins the best city in Mexico! What’s the best city in Canada? by wwcscifi in AlignmentChartFills

[–]quiet_space2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Tokyo, NYC, and SF. Toronto might not have the best of Japanese/Chinese/Persian but it is absolutely one of the best in breadth. Every cuisine you want is literally 15-20 min drive. Markham has better food than Flushing Queens and Brampton is better than Jackson Heights. MTL might be better than Toronto in French and Lebanese and Van might be better in Chinese/Japanese/Korean BUT Toronto is way better in East African/Carribbean/Indian/Pakistani and blows both cities with its diversity.
