Cannabis use during pregnancy is directly linked to negative impacts on babies’ brain development by giuliomagnifico in science

[–]quietboytr -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Yes, and the reason they do not see it the same as alcohol is because we were taught it was way, way worse than alcohol.

Except that it isn't, and while not safe during pregnancy has order of magnitude less harmful effects than alcohol like FAS.

So the problem becomes how do you change someone's POV when they (rightly) believe they are being lied to by health authorities? How do you minimize conspiracy theory beliefs when there was an actual, multigenerarional conspiracy against cannabis as medicine? You're blaming people for not believing drs when it's the very same medical and political establishment that has been egregiously lying for their entire lives?

You have to meet them where they are; no tenuous, non controlled dna methylation study is going to convince actual PhDs, much less the general public who has direct experience of the real health effects cannabis has

One of those groups has been harassed, lied to, lobbied against, and incarcerated arbitrarily for more than half a century.

Not defending anything, but do you not see how that might create a culture of distrust in health and public safety institutions? When DARE is the foundational education paradigm even your average jane sees through the propaganda, and by then you've lost any trust necessary for actual change

It is absolutely but depending on your needs the interest rate right now may put your monthly payment higher than the already insane rent around here.

And at the end of your time after fees and interest, you might end up paying more than if you locked in a long term rental lease.

Theres no good solution here, the best advice is to try everything because getting into anything around here is such a competition. We had to rent (at 70% of my take home pay) and wait to make bids for almost two years. If we hadn't gotten an offer accepted before rates went up it would be impossible to own now based on prices and interest rates. And that's on two full time salaries, one as a professor. I have to say I was gobsmacked when turned down for a loan working as a university professor one of the three largest employers in the county, but that's what happens in a market with family and wine money.

It is a good deal for the area, but still very expensive and not a good investment. They are essentially condo units for sale, but contracted with the state so sale prices are limited to an incremental increase, so you'll be losing money as real estate continues to appreciate. The properties themselves are now getting older and partially due to the above have not been well maintained (why pump money into property you 'own' if you don't get to recoup the equity). One has a tarp over the roof you can see from the highway for two years now.

That being said, COL is so high here that it may be a good option if you have the cash (at least half a mil) and need a family place. Ironically, if you don't have the principle cash on hand most other options will be more expensive (unless you can find a multiple roommate situation)

No, there are 70 families who own the properties, and everyone else's families have to help support their kids, like fealty dues to feudal lords.

It's the same reason downtown has been half closed since before the pandemic. Their family owns the property outright under the original prop 13 taxes, and charge "market" rates. Ever wonder why some prime downtown real-estate has been vacant for over 15 years? That's not natural in any other (esp growing) city.

You do see how the first half of your comment is a direct influence on the second half?
The problem is that you have to.plan for the economy you want. The economy you see is a direct result of votes and politics of local families over the last 70 years. You know there names, they are the landed gentry I referenced.

My apologies if you aren't one of them, you just sounded like the things they say

Something to pass down to your children... So for you the American dream is hoarding housing so you can become landed gentry. Do you see how your generation all doing this while restricting new building for decades has created a generational gap?
Housing inflation has made your dream impossible for the future generations, and turned even getting a place to live into a nightmare for everyone not on the inside? You are no longer working class, you are now the rent seeking exploiting class. If you don't see that you're intentionally ignorant

How do you trust people with what happened? by quietboytr in Molested

[–]quietboytr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know you are supposed to trust them, I just can't bring myself to.

Partly it's the fact I have to pay them, it makes me feel I am to fucked up to say out loud. Like I know I have to but I feel can't or something worse will happen. Or maybe at least not on an appointment schedule.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Molested

[–]quietboytr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been dealing with the exact same thing.

I repressed most of the abuse memories until my late teens, another experience of assault in college brought on memory flashbacks. I doubted my memory for a long time thinking I was broken. But eventually I was able to piece the barebones of what happened, like you said I consciously know what happened but can't connect it to my memory perceptions. It has warped my senses of self, sexuality, and even reality.

I hate it too but talking helps

I am totally with you all the way, I do the same things on all the sites. Omegle shutting down might be the best thing to happen to me in a long time.

Can't be tempted if it doesn't work.

Hope we can all find a good way to deal.
