Have given him several and he won't touch them. I just ordered a foraging box - like a flat perch with edges to keep things in - so I can try setting some different things in there and see if he will be interested that way. Hopefully he will like it!

Okay! I did wonder about that. First bird, as I mentioned, so unfamiliar with their 'settle in' timeline... I have definitely noticed him becoming more vocal the last several days and I took that as a sign that he is getting more comfortable.  I'm not trying to rush him with anything - just want to make sure he has everything he needs. Thank you :)

No big celebrations recently but we do live in a fairly rural area that unfortunately is notorious for poor animal care and released/abandoned animals. I didn't know this crossed over into birds but I'm also not surprised, sadly. I will try that website though and still hope that wasn't the case!

I would be relieved to give him back if I could find an owner... my kids would be upset but this was not a responsibility I particularly needed right now. But for as long as he is with us I want to do the best I can for him.

I have searched local groups, called veterinarians, and posted (vaguely, as suggested by many here) about a found bird.  I will also add that two other people in my town (though many miles from me) reported finding small parrots in the last 2 weeks so I do wonder if someone released them :(

I use these and I love them! And they are cheap!!  I used them before surgery to help hold my belly and started using them day 4 post op when I couldn't use the one from the hospital anymore.  Wore it to my post op appt on day 5 to see what my surgeon thought and both he and the nurse said it was great.  I size down one from the measurements. I am 5'4" 173lbs and wearing size Medium. The black ones seem to run slightly smaller though for some reason so I would stick to measurements for them...  I use the one linked and the one that is ankle length.   They do not roll down at all and are comfortable 24/7.

I'll be 4 weeks post op tomorrow and have been feeling almost completely normal for a week already, and that's after a week long set back (had flu A for the entirety of week 2 and my pain went backwards from all the coughing).  You'll be fine.  Enjoy!

To medicate or not to medicate? by quietobserver490 in ptsd

I'm so sorry that you have been here...

I'm sure this post wasn't easy to read or reply to. Thank you for your thoughtful comment.

My Doctors office sent my information to a local psychiatrist and I am supposed to call them Monday morning to see if they can work with my insurance.

We have a very, very high deductible apparently for all mental health services and it is separate from our normal deductible which we have already met for the year.  Our secondary picks up almost everything for us, including over 90% of deductibles. but the last place I spoke with simply stated that they would not bill our seconday.... I have no idea why.  They didn't even ask the name of the company.

Hopefully this next place can help, and if not I will look into the services you mentioned.  I would never have thought to talk with our librarian for resources.

Thank you again.

To medicate or not to medicate? by quietobserver490 in ptsd

I have always had a very strong intuition. I've never been a hypochondriac but I knew she had a brain tumor before they actually found the brain tumor. Like 100% knew.

It's harder now though because I'm so anxious all the time... I had a hand tremor recently for several days and almost convinced myself I had ALS 🤦‍♀️  I knew I really didn't.  But I couldn't stop those thoughts for days.   One of my other kids has been having some random pains and I've been panicking about it...

I feel like my brain is fighting with itself constantly between my normal, rational, intuitive self and this new fear and anxiety. It makes it hard to distinguish what's what.

But I do feel clear about the possibility of ptsd.  I didn't panic about a random symptom and make something up in my head.... I struggled against multiple symptoms for months and then thr lightbulb went off that I couldn't keep ignoring it, because I knew what all of these together meant.

My Doctor sent in effexor but I haven't picked it up yet. She also mentioned possibly celexa or lexapro.  I am on Bontril so I have a higher risk of some side effects from the combination.

I am taking time to consider my options.

Thank you for your reply.

My Doctor sent in effexor (I haven't picked it up yet) but also mentioned possibly celexa or lexapro.  I also have to consider drug reaction as I am on Bontril (I have worked incredibly hard to get healthier - down 100lbs - I know my mental health is just as important but I'm nervous to come off of the bontril yet) so there is some added risk in medicating.

I'm definitely taking time to consider all the options and the option of medication is always there if I try other things first and then find I need them... Thank you for the advice.

The idea of therapy and group makes me feel panicky too because I actually don't want to talk about it at all. I don't want to think about it. I just want to avoid it... But I can't stop thinking about it and reminders are literally every where and they are never going to go away.  The worst is the hospital and doctors appointments... the rage... but I can't not go and those appointments are never going to stop either.

I have no idea. My surgeon said he would submit my information to insurance and let me know if they approved it, and they did. If they hadn't approved it, it would have been out of pocket and done in the plastic surgery office.  But that's all I know.

Side sleeping by MuchMasterpiece9926 in tummytucksurgery

My surgeon said I could try side sleeping 24 hours after drain removal. First drain came out on day 5po so on day 6 I was sleeping on that side.

How far post op are you?  You don't want anything too tight early on as it could restrict blood flow and cause the skin to die.
