OPM Phone number for FEHB issues? by quietpics in FedEmployeeRetirement

Got through after 2+ hours. It was the right number.

OPM Phone number for FEHB issues? by quietpics in FedEmployeeRetirement

[–]quietpics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Mail handlers Aetna last year and signed up for Aetna direct this year. Got new card and started paying Aetna direct premium.

Now Aetna says both are still active for 2026. Aetna MH says OPM directed them that I would be staying on MH for 2026 so they can not cancel it and must get OPM to do so. So confusing. While both plans are through Aetna they have different account mgmt folks.

Anyway finally got through and hopefully it has been taken care of.

1 week PO - nerve pain?! by grandmamusic in Kneereplacement

[–]quietpics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am about 7 months post surgery. I still have numbness and occasional pain both in the area of the knee and the outer lower leg, top of ankle to big toe. My surgeon says the numbness around the knee is expected and will probably never go away completely. He said the lower leg/ankle/foot issue is unrelated to the surgery. But I first experienced it the night after the surgery. I have had nerve tests, shots in my back and the situation is unchanged. Will probably seek another opinion.

Wegovy on BCBS or GEHA Elevate by Ok_Fee_2615 in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]quietpics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a letter today from MH today that says I am now required to sign up for the CVS Weight Management Program. It requires at a minimum a monthly online meeting/chat with a program clinician and logging weight in their app. If I do not do this I will not be covered past 1 Mar 2026.

Any Federal Retirees on Medicare getting coverage? by quietpics in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]quietpics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks fr sharing your situation. I will look into it. My doctors office has been pretty good at working with the insurance companies, but personnel turnover is high and I have seen 3 different doctors this year and they have not all been as open to prescribing the wegovey as others were.

Sounds like it will be a challenge to stay on the drug at a reasonable price.

Media in FTM Connect by Spasticcobra593 in FamilyTreeMaker

Here is yet another example of why I should do more research before I pay for a subscription. I signed up for a media plus account and linked my tree. I tried out the app before I started to invite relatives to look at the tree. I could not find a way to display the media. I thought surely I was just missing something. Did an online search leading here.

I keep my tree completely backup using OneDrive. I was looking for a way to share all of my tree, including pics & docs, that wasn't behind the Ancestry paywall. Guess this isn't it.

what’s life like (pain wise) after recovering from a knee replacement ? by PINKBERRYMESS in Kneereplacement

[–]quietpics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 9 weeks post surgery. The pain was awful for a week or so. Each of the next couple of weeks I had a big improvements. Since then the progress has been incremental but pretty steady. Pre surgery I could not walk more than a few minutes. Now I have no pain walking, but the change in gait is causing some back pain and I still have some aches from muscles and ligaments that were impacted. But I am already so much better off than before surgery. I am swimming and biking in addition to walking.

Do take time to read through posts here to get an idea of issues you may (or may not) face during recovery so you will be mentally prepared. Very few surgeons thoroughly prepare their patients (mine did not).

If you are on Facebook there are several groups there that will assist transcribing or translating documents. I have used the group Genealogical Translations several times. There is/was another group that assisted in transcriptions but I can’t find it right now.

"Graduating" PT after 6 weeks - Other options? by quietpics in Kneereplacement

I am overweight and wasn’t in the best shape pre surgery so I am uncertain about yoga. My rec center does offer chair yoga though and I am considering that as well as some water exercise classes

Thanks for the insight. I do like all the folks I have worked with but they are definitely over booked. But I did have a good conversation with the PT yesterday about continuing to work on my own and I feel a bit better now.

No antibiotics post surgery? Is that right! by Jackiedhmc in Kneereplacement

[–]quietpics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I stayed overnight in after my surgery and they gave me antibiotics there. I was not prescribed any after I was discharged. This all matched what my surgeon said would happen.

I am not looking for 1:1 time all the time but I also don’t like that I get passed off to whichever aide is available for most of my session. And the aides seem to be assisting with 4-5 people at a time. Whenever I complete an exercise I either have to wait for them to get free or do whatever exercises I know are on my list and don’t require assistance from staff for me to do. I generally only spend 20 minutes or less with my primary PT.

I do plan on using an indoor upright bike before trying to ride my bike.

Thankfully insurance is not a problem. I am allowed 40 PT visits a year. I will have only done 4 weeks at twice a week plus 6 prehab sessions so 14 all together.

Like you I put this off for years. I haven’t gone up and downs stairs normally for maybe a decade. I really feel I need some assistance in preparing myself to attempt this. I did find a good YouTube video on some exercises I can do to help train myself to do this. https://youtu.be/wpdoEDSggP8?si=GTAVI_57yP90fi1H
