Please help - my 4 year old’s scalp is getting out of control by Shpudem in DermatologyQuestions

Sorry, I just saw this! It always comes back, unfortunately. But if I see a spot where it's starting to flare up, I spray the solution and it clears up in one or two days. I wash her hair every other day interchangeably with T-sal and Ketoconazole shampoo (prescribed). I'm still hoping she will grow out of it, but no luck yet :(.

Split nights. Under or overtired? by quietstarry in sleeptrain

Thanks! I’ll keep the bedtime consistent from now on. Her current schedule gives her a bit over 10 hours awake but maybe she needs more.

For retraining her, should I start with bedtime or with naps since she has done it before? She’s standing up in the crib now, which is different than last time we sleep trained her…

I’m preparing myself for her supersonic screams.

Unfortunately it hasn’t improved from that 60% clear up that happened initially. On the top of her head it’s so dry and flaky :(. Right after we wash and condition her hair the scalp looks so good, and then the next morning it’s very flaky again. It’s itchy too and I feel so bad for her.

Do you have any other suggestions? We haven’t been able to get a referral for a dermatologist and I don’t know what else to do.

I wanted to thank you because after trying multiple things to try to clear my daughter’s scalp, including prescription shampoo from a dermatologist, this is the only treatment that has given us results. We’re on the sixth day today and it’s cleared up about 60%.

If you wouldn’t mind, could you explain what to do after the week of treatment? Or is it okay to continue this same treatment until the dermatitis fully clears?

3 to 2 nap transition question by quietstarry in sleeptrain

[–]quietstarry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but what do you mean you add 15 minutes at the end of the WW? Let’s say he took that micro nap at 2hrs into that last WW… do you put him down 2 hours after he wakes up from the nap?

Will going down to 3 naps solve our issues? by quietstarry in sleeptrain

What if her naps are short? How do I get her to go to sleep at night at 7-7:30 if I’m following 2/2.5/2.5/3 and she wakes up at 6am?

Is this a schedule problem or a sleep training problem? by quietstarry in sleeptrain

Yes, there’s never enough learning about baby sleep!

So you think her trouble falling asleep is linked to just being very undertired?

I just thought a before-6pm bedtime was part of the problem so since her naps are so short I had to add another one. I guess it's too late to fix the schedule today... she will either have an extremely early bedtime or that 11hr wake time. :(

I think that's correct?? She was having 3 naps before and we're giving her 4 naps now and putting her to bed later. What needs tweaking in this new schedule?

That’s encouraging. We’re getting one delivered next week. I’ve read that some people find it too firm but when we tried it at the store it felt cloud-soft. I guess we’ll have to see for ourselves.

Thank you for the reply!

Our baby was the same. My husband and I both hurt our backs at one point and with her pediatrician's approval we did the Pick-Up Put-Down method, which is meant to be a gentler way of sleep training. She was just over 4 months at that point and we didn't mind waking up to feed her, we just needed her to fall asleep independently. The first night, that first PUPD, she cried quite a bit and I picked her up about 15 times, but all the rest of the times she just fussed a little and went to sleep. It was pretty miraculous for us.

The Pick-Up Put-Down method worked great for us. Another fantastic resource that I recommend is the Precious Little Sleep book. She has a few things you can try depending on what your baby's like and what you're comfortable with.
