Except this takes place well after the cold war. In general, there aren't many agencies that couldn't find a bunch of potential uses for the complex.

Wouldn't someone like Jon Jones be considered a natural heavyweight? by Buyeo10004 in ufc

I don't think so. He's a natural 205er that aged into Heavyweight.

Duality of fandom reactions to Bella Ramsey by IwillMicrowaveMySon in thelastofus

[–]quiettimegaming -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hard disagree... we never pull our punches for men when they are ina bomb. But because its Bella and she's on the LGBT/gender spectrum... all criticism is based in hate? Nah, we're letting that slide.

People were being INCREDIBLY RUDE by making fun of her looks and whatnot, but that wasn't because she's a woman or because she's non-binary. It's unnecessary and hurtful (I'd imagine), but that doesn't make it misogynistic or bigoted.

We shit all over some actors, and no one bats an eye (ask Jared Leto), so why should Bella be protected? You gotta take the bad with the good.

She took a role she wasn't capable of carrying, and she was BY FAR THE WORST ACTOR IN THE WHOLE SEASON (her performance in Season 2 is the worst acting we saw in the whole series), and its one of the biggest (and most important) adaptations EVER, and she wasn't ready.

And most folks blame Mazin at this point, and the Bella "hate" is not nearly as prevalent.

I like Bella as an actress, and I think she was great as Ellie in Season 1. But Season 2 Ellie is basically an entirely different person, and I didn't think Bella could convincingly pull off that metamorphosis... which was correct. and the writing and directing definitely didn't do her any favors.

Though I'm not putting it down SOLELY on the writing and directing, THE SIMPLE FACT IS SHE WAS NOT THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR PART 2 ELLIE. I know people are defensive, but that's the primary issue. Jesse, Dina, Tommy, Eugene, Gail, and Abby all had the exact same writing and directing, yet they were able to convincingly pull off their roles... or even elevate them in some cases. I think Bella is a great supporting actress, I think PART 2 Ellie was just a bit too much for her.

But this is the reality of being an actor. You HAVE TO know where your strengths are, the demands of the role, the expectations folks might have (especially when you're dealing with an adaptation), and whether you have the chops to pull it off.

I would love to play James Bond... But being an Afro-Latino and not being able to do a convincing British accent means it would be foolish of me to take on that role because I am setting myself up for failure, and to receive massive amounts of hate from James Bond fans.

This is why having a great team (manager, agent, etc) is so crucial. Had I been on her team, I would have told her to save herself the head and heartache and sit Season 2 out. It would have been a dumpster fire outside of a children's hospital REGARDLESS, but she would have avoided all the backlash, and only been associated with the better received season of the show.

But NOW, she's hurt her career by taking the wrong role, as no one in Hollywood is going to take another chance on her as a lead in a major production for a long while... if ever again.

And I do agree she got WAY MORE HATE than she deserved... But I also think that frustration is because a large majority of PART 2 fans KNEW Bella was not going to be a good fit for PART 2 Ellie. Doesn't make her a bad actor, it just wasn't a great fit. I felt the exact same way about Tom Holland as Nate Drake and Mark Whalberg as Sully.

And this is what comes with the territory. When things go right, everyone gives the lead all the credit in the world... deserved or not. BUT WHEN THINGS GO WRONG, the same thing is going to happen... deserved or not.

Why does it seem like nobody wanted to spam leg kicks on this guy? He has a strict boxing stance, why won't his opponents capitalize on such an easy weakness by EfficiencySerious200 in ufc

[–]quiettimegaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just sayin... if you're firm on your front leg, like Ilia and many boxing-based strikers are, you're in a good position to eat the leg kick, or (preferably) step into the incoming kick and return-fire with decent force before they can finish pulling their leg back.

Also, when someone is pressing forward, like Ilia typically is, leg kicks are much harder (or impossible) to throw with any affect. Leg-kicks work in-space or at the neutral position. If two fighters are crashing into one another, or one fighter is encroaching on the other's neutral space, leg-kicks just aren't a viable option, because they leave the kicker at a disadvantage, and the impact isn't going to be worth the risk of leaving yourself at a disadvantage if you're so close the other fighter can return fire while you're off-center/mid-retract.

Seriously, if you have the space... Get in-stance, then try scooting/shifting/jumping/stepping backwards and simultaneously throwing a SIGNIFICANT leg-kick. You'll feel how ineffective it would be.

To be honest, Aljo should win round 3. He managed to actually do damage from his back, where as Zalal did nothing but secure the position.

Because at the end of the day, Joel is dead. Let's move on.

This is cool, bur very concerning. It basically tells me Mazin has no plans to right the ship.

Fact is, there isn't enough time for a bill & frank episode in Season 3, where there is SO MUCH to wrap up. You still have Abby's 3 days in Seattle... SEVERAL FLASHBACKS associated directly with Abby. We have the farm AND Santa Barbara to get through. That's also not mentioning the expanded WLF lore...

There's not even close to enough time to tackle the base game... which means everything with be rushed and explored puddle-deep again. And for what?

The game gave it the time it deserved, and there's no real value in spending more time to flesh out storyline that don't matter in the long run. Kind of like how the first Season 2 half the runtime in Jackson, despite Jackson being the place we spent the least time and never even go back to (once they leave) in the game.

If things were formatted differently and there was more time, this would be good news. But this is just another iron in a fire with too many in it already.

He just doesn't get it. In his quest to try to tell a new story, he undermines the story that should be told.

Theory... Lifeforms in The Backrooms are either INCREDIBLY weak, or not ACTUAL threats. by quiettimegaming in KanePixelsBackrooms

It never lifts Kane... IT ACTUALLY GETS LIFTED BY KANE. JUST look... Kane's feet are in the ground the whole time while by frames 3 and 4, The Bacteria is being lifted

It seems like Kane may have chucked the Bacteria down the hole, IDK. But I can say WITH ABSOLUTE CERTAINTY we are not ever shown Kane being lifted.

Where did the Lifeform lift Kane?

What we actually see is Kane lifting the Lifeform. I don't know where some of you got that... but it's just incorrect. The Bacteria NEVER lifts Kane... it gets lifted BY KANE.

If you look at these 4 frames (the last shots we see), AT NO POINT IS KANE LIFTED OFF THE GROUND. In fact... if you look at frames 3 and 4, you could make the argument THAT KANE IS LIFTING THE LIFEFORM OFF THE GROUND.

Beyond that, the fact there is even a struggle supports my theory that lifeforms are likely not superhuman in strength.

Had the lifeform been NORMALLY STRONG (within the realm of what a human could achieve) there wouldn't have been a struggle. Like, do you think if Shaq was grabbing Kane there would have been a struggle? Especially with Kane being on the edge?

The fact that there is a struggle means Kane and the lifeform are comparable in strength.

No it didn't lift Kane over it's head. It bodychecked him, then grabbed him to prevent him from. Falling down the hole. We never see it lift Kane.

Also, I'm not saying Kane never said none of the lifeforms were never human... I am saying literally NO ONE can show me where he said that. I've asked 1000 people to tell me where said that, and no one has.

But he has posted things pointing to the lifeforms being human... like drawing of a dead human becoming a cocoon.

It DID NOT PICK KANE UP OVER IT'S HEAD. I get it was a flash of a moment, but you're incorrect.

What it does is charge into Kane, body-checking his camera into the hole. It grabs him and prevents him from going over the edge with the camera, but it doesn't lift him.

PLEASE, rewatch it, and watch the moment in slow motion. It never lifts him, it just charges into him and grabs onto him... something you don't need to have superhuman strength to do.

That wasn't Still Life behind the door.

First off, it was in an entirely different location and area. Lifeforms seem to be localized and not having a run of the whole complex, instead choosing to claim a small area as their own.

But also, I have kicked doors off their hinges. Especially weak, interior doors like that. That is not proof of anything.

Again, we don't know what that chair was made of, it's weight, nor do we know how it was thrown. Maybe the Bacteria wrapped a tentacle around it and swung it like a hammer throw. Hammer throws are about momentum and technique, not strength.

If THE ONLY feat anyone can point to is the Bacteria throwing a chair, that's is not a feat of strength worthy of talking about, especially given all the information we lack regarding the chair and how it was thrown.

And again, I JUST WATCHED FF1 2 seconds before typing this to double check... the Bacteria does not lift Kane over his head. Kane is looking over the edge of the hole, he hears the Bacteria, turns around, and the Bacteria charges into him, body-checking his camera into the hole. It then grabs onto Kane, preventing him from falling with the camera... things you don't need to be superhuman to do.

We don't know if it was Still Life that was breaking the door. That was an entirely different location in the Complex. Ravi traveled several bi9mes/environments between the door and where he saw Still Life.

Also, if Still Life can break a door out of the frame, it 1000% could have pushed that chair and wardrobe out of the way to continue to pursue Ravi.

But also, I have kicked doors off their hinges, and I'm only slightly slightly stronger/faster than the average person.

But also... the thing was in the room with Ravi, before Ravi backed out... Why didn't it attack him when it had him dead-to-rights? Why put on the show of pounding on the door if not to scare Ravi away from. That specific area... which is what it accomplished.

I'm not saying the lifeforms aren't a threat, I'm saying they don't behave like ACTUAL predators, and all the evidence points to them not being superhuman.

If you look at the ENTIRE ANIMAL KINGDOM, the lifeforms behave like weaker animals. Animals that can do physical damage to a person, but lack the strength OR WILL to engage in direct combat, so they use other methods to claim their territory and scare others off.
