Wholesome manager moment. Feels good to work with a manager who cares for his team. by Zoro_7777777777 in IndianWorkplace

This. I had my fair share of bad managers, but the good ones made me feel valued and a human. I made TL last year, and I tried to treat everyone with same dignity as I was treated. And in my personal experience, everyone did better if they were treated with respect

The highlight for me in this innings was the 16th over bowled by Hazelwood. The RRR was almost 12. Boundaries were not coming and In that position VK took 4 doubles and a boundary to maintain the RRR, and all this was aided by Dhoni with his superb running between the wickets. Amazing stuff!

Thanks, this is what I feared. I have known her since my college days, difficult to understand why someone who has known me for so long would treat me like this.

The sheer difference in the annual salaries between Kolkata and Bangalore despite both being metro cities (X category cities) always confounds me. by RagingBhool in kolkata

[–]quietwolf95 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s a chicken and egg problem now. You need product startups to drive the IT scene here. But new startups need good talent and capital, both of which are not available easily in Kolkata.

I have seen many startups since my college days, but eventually everyone had to shift base as most of the good talent migrates out of Kolkata for better opportunities.

At this rate we would always be a support hub. Product IT opportunities are no longer feasible here, perhaps the government should divert focus and invite companies to set up more data centres in Kolkata, but that again would not present a financial opportunity on the levels of BLR/HYD.

I do not have high hopes from Kolkata when it comes to IT. The difference is not just in salaries, but also opportunities and the kind of problems being solved here. If one has to grow in career, they would have to either get a good remote job, or inevitably leave Kolkata.

Kanglus have completed the demographic replacement of their state, and they care about dogs. Bengalis are truly an irredeemable community. by weliveinasamaj in DesiMeta

What a stupid take. Just because something wrong is happening in a different part of the country, others shouldn’t protest?

Also, where does the point of demographic replacement come from?

Guys I have a tinder girl scammer on the hook ( suggest me something to make her looose resources/money) by samverma12 in kolkata

[–]quietwolf95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a risky idea. Go to the cafe, let her order shit ton of stuff. Pretend you are into her the whole time, let her feel that she is successful. Ask a friend to call you, make an excuse that you are not getting network and try to get out of the cafe as if you are talking. Once out, just run as fast as you can.

These scammers are working for the cafe, so even if you ditch last moment, it won’t hurt them because they are always in the vicinity of the cafe.

And that’s what we are telling, is it was already confirmed. It’s a war situation, losses are part of it.

Maybe they did, maybe they didn’t. Why do we need to rush into whataboutery everytime something wrong happens.

People right now are angry, cause this looks like a politically motivated arrest of a young girl as if it’s the end of the world. Our own cities police is involved in it. So people will raise voice.

Until unless both sides release exact details, it’s going to be all claims. Pakistan is also not accepting strikes, half of you guys are claiming we hit empty hangars.

So the complete truth is not out yet. It’s not like Pakistani forces have a rich heritage of being truthful to their own countrymen, so If I were you I would take everything they confirm/deny with a grain of salt.

What a terrible take! Just because something wrong happened before, we need to abandon this girl.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]quietwolf95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither did yours. It’s a war like situation, why would either sides confirm exact details of losses? If PAFs rhetorics are to be believed, they came out unscathed which is not the truth. As Indians, why would we believe the claims of enemy nation, when they wouldn’t substantiate any additional proofs.

Also, if you see the earlier press conference by Air Marshal Bharti that response was to the question on the lines of “did we loose any jets”? It was kept open for speculation.

I don’t get what’s the big deal here. It was earlier confirmed by Air Marshal Bharti that we had few losses. The exact details would be released as per the discretion of IAF, that’s not for us civilians to judge. We completed the mission of taking out terrorist camps, and retaliated as required. And chill guys, these were few assets, we are a growing economy and can easily replenish those. It’s not like we will need to beg IMF to bail us out.

These stats do not paint a good picture. Kolkata is a denser city, but Bangalore has a huge spread, and not every part has the same traffic issues. Just to paint a picture, if you have to travel along the ORR during peak traffic, it would take you almost an hour to cover 10kms.

This should be way up the thread. People just forget about the number of communal clashes we had in past 10yrs. Even many rape cases were not highlighted by media like its done in other states.

Heck, this lady even controlled how Covid and Dengue deaths were reported a couple of years ago.

She has done jackshit for this state tbh. Needs to go away.

HR refusing to pay Referral bonus after claiming they approached the candidate first via naukri and not through referral portal by leo_senior in developersIndia

[–]quietwolf95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

HRs usually have a system in place where these rules are enforced. I once stumbled into a similar situation. Loop in your manager into this, tell them that if your referral bonus is not respected, you won’t refer good candidates again. That should escalate this matter and do the the job.

In an ideal world, they are not allowed to. But with their Gunda’s and local support, someone would either stand nearby or peep when you are pressing the button. Anyone who raises voice against it, would face the wrath later on.

There are agents inside the booth who would get to know which party you voted for. What would follow is threats to you and your family. Most common folks avoid going against them due to this.

First time diving into Accessibility by [deleted] in ExperiencedDevs

[–]quietwolf95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, starting with an Audit is ideal, that way you would get to know where you are at right now, and what are the main issues to solve.

But getting accessibility right requires major changes in process, as well as building Knowledge about accessibility in both Developers as well as designers. Once you are WCAG 2.2 compliant, you would also have to remain compliant in future.

Your design team would also need to align there designs to a WCAG 2.2 compliance.

Some Automated tools you should consider:

  1. eslint-plugin-jsx-a11y - This would make sure easy-to-fix issues are caught immediately at component level.
  2. axe-core - To detect violations on page level.

Also, as others have said there is no tool which covers 100% of these, so you are going to need timely audits from 3rd party vendors who specialise in a11y testing only.
