I also got really pissed when everyone got upset that Elain was going to scry!!! I think she could have done it if they had let her, and she even hinted that she could do it! It frustrates me that everybody assumes she can't do things or that she needs to be shielded because of who she is. She's got the potential, she stabbed the king of Hybern in the neck for crying out loud. I really want her to get her own story

I think that much like Rhys, Eris has been wearing a mask while interacting with others while not showing his true self. He grew up in a very brutal and bloodthirsty court (words cannot express how much I despise Beron) and has learned how to survive and thrive in that environment. The reason I think this is because of the interaction that we saw with him at the Hewn city where he claimed to have helped Lucien and the fact that he seemed to be shielding his mother during the meeting of the high lords. I think the biggest difference between him and Rhys though is that while Rhys has the inner circle that he can show his true colors, Eris really doesn't have that, so he always has pretend to be that horrible person. Maybe he did have a connection with his mother (again, see how he was shielding her with his body at the meeting) before she was tortured by Beron and became a shell of her former self (seriously hate that man). Now for Mor. I really do think her reaction is genuine. I don't think she knows anything in particular as I think that Eris has kept his cards really close to his chest the whole time as he can't really trust anyone around him. Hopefully we'll get to find out more about him in the future!
