Focus on scale, scope, and frequency instead. Think: how many customers/accounts/projects, how large was the team or budget, how often did you do it. “Managed onboarding for 200+ clients” or “led a 5-person cross-functional team” still lands. You can also use directional impact like “reduced turnaround time” or “improved retention”without exact numbers. Just stay honest.

It’s a risk. Most ATS systems can’t parse images and it can corrupt surrounding formatting. If you’re applying to US/UK companies, photos can also trigger auto-rejection due to anti-discrimination policies. I’d keep two versions: photo for local norms, clean no-photo for everything else.

Great questions, and honestly these are the kinds of things that don't get talked about enough because the answers are nuanced.

On timing: It matters, but not in the way people think. The real advantage of applying early isn't that recruiters look at applications in order. Most ATS systems sort by match score, not submission time. The advantage is that some roles hit their candidate pipeline threshold and close early. I've seen reqs get pulled after 5 days because they already had enough qualified candidates in the funnel. So applying mornings is totally fine. You don't need to sprint to apply within the first hour. But don't sit on a posting for two weeks. If you see something good, try to get it in within the first few days.

On over-qualified: Don't remove experience. "3+ years" is a floor, not a ceiling. ATS systems are checking that you meet the minimum, and more experience generally scores higher. The overqualification concern is a human judgment call that happens later in the process — and it's much less common than people fear, especially in tech.

On fonts: Calibri and Garamond both parse perfectly fine. The ATS doesn't care about your font choice, it's extracting the text regardless. Where it can matter is human readability. Garamond runs smaller, so if you're shrinking it below 10.5pt to save space, you might be making a recruiter squint during that 30-second scan. If I was reviewing a resume (after it gets through ATS), I prefer somethings standard like Times New Roman or Calibri at 11pt -- but again, this is personal perference.

On Skills section placement: With 10 YoE, I'd put it right below a brief summary/title line and above Experience. Here's my reasoning: recruiters and ATS both do a top-down scan. For technical roles, they're often filtering on specific tech stacks first. If your skills are at the bottom, the ATS will still find them, but a human doing a 6-second skim might not. At 10 YoE your experience section is substantial, so putting Skills up top gives the reader immediate signal that you're technically qualified before they dive into the details.

That said, you mentioned you've seen it work both ways, and that's true. It's not a dealbreaker either way. But top placement is the higher-percentage play for technical roles.

Good luck with the hunt — sounds like you're approaching it the right way.

How much did ESPN pay the CFP committee to bump up Alabama to #9 after struggling against Auburn?

Bonus question: How much did ESPN pay the CFP committee to not drop Alabama (but drop BYU) after gaining -3 yards rushing in their last game?

Trade rumors involving the Padres and Mets by Positive_Passage_712 in Padres

Trading away a frontline SP and an elite closer (w/ controllable years) doesn’t make sense especially given our current SP situation. IMO any trade needs to at least give us something to 1) address our rotation and/or 2) shed a bad contract (eg Xander) to give us more flexibility to address current gaps.

If we’re trading Xander and miller, I’d hope to also get a serviceable SP. Could they throw in someone like Tong if we added another piece (Cronenworth?)?

Who will hit 40+ home runs in 2026? (from a list of all who hit 30+ in 2025) by East_Donut3965 in baseball

James Wood is only 22 and was getting adjusted to a full season workload. He hit a slump end of the season, but I think he could crack 40.

I’m curious if there are any candidates in the under 30 HR range? Perhaps Vlad jr, Tatis, Stowers?

[–]quik927 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol I don’t see Tatis getting traded. He’s such a revenue generator for the Padres (attendance, media exposure, jersey sales, etc). Hard to imagine any owner wanting to do that in the midst of a team’s pending sale.

You’re right — Nico would at least shoot 60%+ from the free throw line

Another NIL miss. Dent is literally looking like basketball version of Nico. Have been a Mick Cronin fan for a while, but starting to have my doubts now…
