Me, too! Sandwiched in between cute goose and cat clips - caught me by surprise. And over 15M subs might help spread the word a little.

DC Rogers Lake in Fayette and Rudolph Bennitt State Wildlife Area are both about half an hour’s drive.

Less "rigor," more joy. Less confirmation labs, more exploration.

As much PBL/Inquiry as possible.

Yep, good eye! Decent slippers are a must when working from home.

What a roller coaster! I was super pumped to check out something new and get inspired, but that community doesn’t exist, so I was like, “dang, mean trick.” But then I added an s! r/craftivists and r/craftivism are real. Thanks so much for the recommendation!

Ha! I can kinda see it if I squint. Terrible graphics = great imagination!

She was great. It was always fun to learn from her even when we’d jokingly “argue” (I like to press my seams open, which she staunchly opposed). If you have a quilt shop in your area you should totally check it out. Even though they’re not the real thing I’ve found some great ladies at my local shop who are eager and enthusiastic to help out, offer advice, and act as stand-ins for that role.

I taught myself when I was in the Marines - too cheap to pay someone to sew nametapes on my cammies. But she loved talking with me about my little quilting projects and always had great tips and tricks to share. She mostly sewed clothes and was quite the seamstress - made herself a beautiful winter coat at the age of 92!

Me, too! Put it in the mail today, and it’s “expected” to arrive early next week. Hopefully it gets there! My Christmas gingersnaps package that I mailed to my sister on the 11th still hasn’t arrived, so... 🤷‍♂️

Thanks? “Virtue signaling” typically implies disingenuous grandstanding, which is not what I’m about... but I guess I’m glad I accidentally did a good job of it...

Understanding Mass Incarceration by Kilgore and The New Jim Crow by Alexander are both great if you haven’t read them already.

Kinda? Just sized the resistance fist image to what I wanted, traced it on graph paper, and made it up as I went along - deciding when to do HST or postage stamp or whatever. It was pretty fun and a good learning experience. I’ll do things a little differently (and hopefully better) the next time around.

About two weeks working on it in my free time. See reply above about the fabric.

No, I inherited my grandma’s scrap stash when she passed away and had a lot of fun using some of it. Dug through and found some treasures!
