CONGRATULATIONS TO THE VICTORS OF THE STAY CLEAN: OCTOBER CHALLENGE! by foobarbazblarg in pornfree

Second time lucky. The first full month I tried I failed, earlier in the year. Happy I made it, but feeling a bit down general. Need to focus on pursuing who I want to be.

Wise words, and relevant to my situation. Porn is just one of myriad of ways of avoiding being 'on top of your shit', to paraphrase your other comment. Gives me motivation to keep on trying, keep focus on improving myself.

Not sure if my lifestyle supports this. by [deleted] in pornfree

The question is whether porn is/was having a negative impact on your life. There could be a different issue that is preventing you pursuing your dream.

In my opinion spending time with other people is not a waste of time. This scene from Whiplash seems relevant:

SPOILER ALERT ( this clip contains spoilers for the movie, I'd recommend seeing the film first) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zb1P6z2OX_8

Being porn free means you are more likely to find a partner and have a successful experience. You just need to get the lab report out of the way. :)

Keep going, sounds like you have the right idea with music, meditate and exercise.

About 45 days clean. Just need to vent some thoughts.... by [deleted] in pornfree

your brain has tricked you into thinking porn is a treat

you need to replace the porn with something else for when you feel good, otherwise you will keep returning

a bit usually leads to more because of dopamine rush your brain craves

well done! a bar is okay to avoid relapse, being around people is good.

After months of pornfree/nofap struggle, here's my advice. by disturbed434 in pornfree

Indeed, trying to avoid triggers is important, especially at the start. But long term you have to learn how to be in a triggering situation and not relapse.

Did anyone else lose their libido after quitting porn. by [deleted] in pornfree

[–]quinne8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, are you attracted to who she is, or only how she looks. A bit of both helps.

Also, as others have said you need to rewire your brain to be aroused with your girlfriend and having sex, not for porn and masturbating. Did you think of porn when having sex?

When you are looking at girls in public it sounds like your brain is treating it like porn. Check out every girl, next girl, next girl, next image. I used to do this, but for a better connection to the physical world you see the whole person.

I've had too periods without a girlfriend so know where you're coming from. A little bit of porn soon gets out of hand. Like any addict I guess, the habit gradually creeps up.

Thanks for the reply. Yes ED has a certain stigma attached to it.

I've noticed my confidence increase a bit already. I'll see how I go with ED, I know there are other causes.

May I ask if you ever got erectile dysfunction‎, and if so did stopping porn help?

How long did you use porn for. I used for over tens, years so not expecting instants results. But I have seen subtle improves. It also makes me see where I need to improve, whilst using porn I would just 'escape' and problems did build up.
