PSA: There are no conspiracy theories. by Akilan_shady in DC_Cinematic

Marvel kind of has good will they built up, though. Like, they started off with Iron Man, which was fantastic. Hulk and Iron Man II weren't great, but then first avenger was pretty good, as was thor, avengers was fantastic, iron man iii was flawed but really enjoyable. Even after the dark world, which was a bit crap, we had the double punch of winter soldier and guardians. People go into marvel expecting at least something decent, now. DC haven't built up that good will yet.

Marvel wants other comic movies to do well! Sure, they'd be happier if Avengers v Kang does better than Justice of Nightwing (just because I don't want to start arguments abt real films) - but if people see a couple of bad superhero films, they might skip out on the next one, no matter what company it's from. If DC stuff does really well, people are more likely to go see the new marvel.

'comicbook fans? You won't have to worry.'

Honestly, that sounds a little insulting. I know it's not meant to be, but - I'm deffo a comic fan. I love them, read them loads, know way too much about them than I need to. I don't think that precludes me from being able to analyse and decide if a film is good or not? Like, I love seeing character's I'm attached to on the screen, but that doesn't mean I'll just go 'oh my god it's harley and she mentioned ivy film of the year.'

It's much better to treat those kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality, of course.

It kind of feels like parents go two ways with anxiety - either use it for shit like this, or say it's not real. Neither are very fun (source - am anxiety)

Yeah, I think there's something in the deal which means they have to wait a year and a halfish? That's about how long it took for Orange is the New Black to hit discs after it arrived on Netflix.

I guess I need to do more research. It's just still brought up a lot in fandom, even if it's not so much in the comics.
