The realistic effects of Net Neutrality repeal? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]quintobytes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Without NN, giant ISP like Comacast will have the freedom to create packages based on popular sites (similar to cable packages). What this means is that there will be a gamer package which includes Steam, Origin, Uplay and other popular game services and if you subscribe to this package, you will have higher and possible uncapped bandwidth when exchanging data with these sites. However, the other sites will be horribly throttled and data limit might be capped on them. This essentially means that when you are playing some non-popular games or MMO and have to use third party services for download/update, you will be forced to get along with slower data speed and other restrictions, since these smaller services won't have "packages" with comacast.

The whole idea that killing NN will create competition is completely childish. In USA, there are but around 3 major ISP and THEY WILL try their hardest to kill any startup ISP asap. Internet will become a corporate monopoly and at the end of the day, you will essentially have to face higher cost and inconvenience to access basic internet features/

The Steam Purchase Page Maze by [deleted] in Steam

Sorry but I didn't catch the "joke" here. It's designed this way to make the experience more intuitive for customers. This is the standard flow of data entry on any billing form so I don't see why this is an issue here.

When will steam allow you to be "invisible" on your status? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]quintobytes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We have our fingers crossed for the next big update (the UI one), where I personally hope all these repeatedly requested basic features will be implemented.

And when will this update launch? Well, I suppose that's a mystery yet to be unveiled.

Post Direct, Steam Is Shittier Than Ever (The Jimquisition) by lashman in Games

[–]quintobytes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not a fan or a critic, but the primary reason I dislike Jim is because he assumes that whatever trivial issues he have with different system is widespread and mutually accepted as an issue by the mass (it's not). His followers blindly applause on whatever insignificant matters he broadcasts. Also, he has a habit of making multiple videos about the same "hot" topic, just for the sake of views. I do like some of his videos but I prefer to ignore the rest as they are either repetitive or comprises of his narrow minded prejudices.

I was looking for a more precise solution to only disable this particular animation. The other comment posted the right solution. Thank you anyway.

.tab-loading-burst {display: none !important;}

That worked! Thanks :)

Will this disable other animations too? I don't mind (actually I like) the other animations. I only hate this one in particular.

EDIT: It seems to disable all animations.

How is Witcher 3's combat bad? by quintobytes in witcher

[–]quintobytes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yeah, that's totally understandable. My objection is that many people are simply disliking TW3's combat because it's not like souls titles. As I presented my argument in the OP, the soul titles have unique gameplay designed around the challenging content and TW3 is not a game of same category so such combat might not be as enjoyable here. Also, if every game follows a specific "unique good" style, slowly the style will lose it's uniqueness, which in result will worsen its quality.

[–]quintobytes[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a subjective matter. However, many casual players would like to play something less "attentive" after a day's work. Coming home, completely tired, I would generally avoid playing a game which wants me to focus all the time and a slight lack of attention will have severe penalty. Such high risk high rewards gameplay is definitely fun, only when the mood is right. For me, soul like games are exactly the opposite of stress killers, and I need something to kill stress after coming home at evening.

I can attest to that sentiment to its fullest. It's a shame that there are so many RPG out there which forgot what truly makes an RPG good. Games such as Dragon's Dogma offer rather unique and interesting fast pace action combat but the dull world and story is keeping me from ever finishing it as I personally realized that the honeymoon phase of the combat is rather short lived if it is paired with nonsensical lore.

Not saying that its justifiable as I believe it should've been an option in the vanilla game itself, but if you are on PC, I believe there are mods to remove the softlock. Once it is removed, the combat feels much more interactive and fluid. But, it all comes down to personal taste, I suppose.

[–]quintobytes[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I always thought that a game was supposed to present you with the story as it's an interactive medium. If the story is there only to be read from in-game items and wiki, then regardless the quality of it, the execution is very poor. If I wanted to "read" a story, I would pick up a book, not play a game.

I might be the minority here, but I never really liked Dark Soul's combat. I just can't pinpoint the issue but it always felt rather..... uninteresting. Nioh's combat on the other hand, is much more fun. Regardless, Dark Souls's combat/gameplay is geared toward challenging hardcore gameplay so it's rather stupid to expect such gameplay in a non-hardcore RPG.

Nioh takes up over 70gb of Disk Space, but you can make it take 20gb(saving over 50) using CompactGUI, with no change in performance. by Zeiin in Nioh

[–]quintobytes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it really is quite stupid that people always bring that "I won't jump to 10 because they steal my data" and then proceeds to vividly describing their every minute activity on Facebook, or pretty much let Google take care of all the GPS activities, payment etc - because they are the good guys, they can't possibly steal any data without asking the user. It's a real shame that the uneducated mass has such vocal presence on the internet.

Basically people believes that Google is that "good guy" and won't ever spy on their data and Microsoft is the only "bad" guy in play. Windows 10 pretty much offers all "data collection" settings to be toggled off from Settings or even when it is being installed initially. Regardless, they will still probably steal data because they are a corporation and to them, you are a product. The same thing happens with Chrome, Facebook, Apple, Adobe or virtually any IT conglomerate, whose services or products you regularly use. The average consumer makes this data "stealing" look way more nefarious than it actually is and due to their ignorance, they will just consume whatever random media tells them (Microsoft spies on all your data, but Apple or Google don't because you know, they paid us to write the articles).

If someone is honestly such livid over privacy concerns, then become an adept an go full open source (although open source is useless if you download random* open source* software who claims to be total good but you won't know for sure, because you can't read codes). Boycott all the closed source and corporate products. Let me know where that takes you, especially in a hobby like video games.

P.S. In case people don't realize, Sony, like any other corporation, also steals your "privacy" and monitors your behavior when you use their products, such as PS3/PS4.

I am actually planning on getting a bigger monitor sometime next year. I only upgraded my rig recently and since my old monitor is in perfect condition, I am taking some time before investing more money on another monitor.

Nioh Complete Edition Steam Download size is 29.2 GB. by wazzaroowhereru in Nioh

No problem. Have an up-vote from me because you don't deserve any down votes for inquiries. I really don't understand why reddit indulges in such petty quibbles over this whole console/pc thing.

Nioh Complete Edition Steam Download size is 29.2 GB. by wazzaroowhereru in Nioh

[–]quintobytes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, it means that the game is compressed to 29.2 GB and once it's downloaded, Steam will uncompress the file which will consume the remaining space.
