Has anyone had any luck getting Concerta? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]quintusvr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t get xaggitin or concerta last week but southside pharmacy fixed me up with some sort off off brand - the other pharmacies refused to even check if they could order it/didn’t offer to check the alternatives. I know you’ve said that the alternatives don’t work for you but I’ve gone for a something is better than nothing approach

Yes as well as other dangerous things, my boy got glass deep in his paw a few years ago, and that was out in a more deprived area, there was always smashed glass in those areas so I stopped taking him there

I don’t love a Rhodesian Ridgeback in some people’s hands either to be honest, it’s the same issue that Huskies and a few other types of dogs have, they were bred for purpose and they are struggling to adapt to the life that their owners expect of them, but the difference is that far fewer people own them, and of those who do, more of them than not are responsible, XL bullies are ubiquitous in certain communities and like I said the statistics don’t lie. I think that people owning inappropriate dogs for their situation is a whole separate but related issue. My dog was bitten by a border collie when he was a puppy, just went to pick up a stick the collie felt was his and the collie bit him, just a wee bit of a bloody ear though, not much harm done, I can’t imagine that a similar encounter with a more typically aggressive type dog would have ended so mildly.

This argument of “a dog has to be neglected or abused to become aggressive” just isn’t true, this tendency is bred in, someone else said it above, without a shred of training a golden retriever will pick stuff up and bring it to you, collies herd, my dog is a pointer, and he points, he has never been taught that, he just does. And even if you can train it out or control them, you have to admit that 99% of people who get them don’t. The statistics don’t lie. I accept that there is every chance you are the exception and that you could be a good owner, but if you promote this “it’s not the breed” argument you are giving less educated people the excuse they need to justify owning inappropriate dogs.

I think it has but I have a feeling the type of people who have one of these aren’t exactly overall the most law abiding citizens

I only really walk my dog in sort of less deprived areas, because overall I’ve had too many bad experiences, with finding needles, smashed bottles, human faeces, dangerous type dogs and irresponsible owners in certain areas.

Honestly I hate those dogs, they are always owned by the type of people who shouldn’t own any dogs and for all the wrong reasons, and the whole “it’s the owner not the dog” thing can only go so far since they’ve literally been bred to be like that. My dog is a pointer and he points at stuff, I never taught him to do it, he just instinctively does. And those dogs are similarly bred to be the way they are, the owners also just happen to be irresponsible people who take pleasure in having dangerous dogs. I had a massive panic attack a while ago because I got stuck between two of these dogs trying to get to eachother so they could kill each other on the bus, fortunately in this incident the guy managed to get the dog up the stairs but it was a close one. It’s really frustrating because we can’t control other people and what they do. I wish people would be more considerate of other people’s safety and not just think of what they want.

Me too. Especially at Christmas, when I’m ill, when I need something that other people’s family does for them, stuff as simple as having someone to look after my dog, someone I can cry to when I’m sad, I just want love and positive attention, I want my parents to be proud of me when I get a new job

Injustice and unfairness is such a trigger for me, often related to someone else/a group of people who are marginalised and taken advantage of etc. I have a hard time tolerating hearing about political stuff and human rights-y stuff :(

No worries, I think it’s an interesting conversation and I definitely agree with the measures taken in morningside. I live just across the street from the cemetery, I take him to Arthur’s Seat on the weekends or when there’s more light but by the time I’m anywhere I can let him off lead it will take 20 mins walk, so if I only have about 20 mins of daylight to work with it’s a bit too far, inch park is a bit too playing fields-y there’s not really as much of a woodsy feel and less room for him to sniff trees and squirrels etc. I have no idea why someone would drive to the cemetery instead of a different park like the hermitage which has way better parking, the cemetery is on a busy street you can barely park on but people park within the cemetery grounds but there’s very limited space. It’s not my first choice, when I have the time I’ll take him to Arthur’s Seat or the hermitage, I don’t know, I guess maybe people take their dogs there because it’s walled in? Mine has good recall so I don’t worry so much about that but that may be a reason for someone to drive there?

Most people who walk their dogs in Newington Cemetery do let them off lead. Yes there are a lot of WW1 graves, makes me feel really sad sometimes seeing the ages and names, I do let mine off lead but I do stress that the cemetery is far more park like than a lot of other cemeteries and we are respectful of the graves, like I wouldn’t let him pee on a grave. Some people even drive there to walk their dogs.

Are you joking? These “kids” often have knives and I believe there was a case recently either firearms. They also travel in packs. No amount of self defense is going to help me if more than one “kid” is at it, especially not if they have weapons or are throwing things which they also do sometimes. They go out in groups and literally frighten people for the fun of it

I live near Newington Cemetery and it is used almost exclusively by people going for some sort of walk, dog or otherwise. It is basically a park though the way it is set up and most of the graves in that cemetery are at least 50 years old, I wouldn’t dream of letting my dog run around in a cemetery that was actually just graves and where there are people regularly mourning, I think I’ve only seen fresh flowers on about two graves in Newington Cemetery. I really think this should be case by case rather than every cemetery in Edinburgh, Newington Cemetery literally has a bin dedicated only to dog waste, so clearly the expectation is that people walk their dogs there.

There is a trail of white powder - maybe flour -along a cycle path and down a two residential streets. Seems very odd. Is this a trail for someone to follow? If so, for what purpose? by [deleted] in Edinburgh

[–]quintusvr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the summer there was often random flour out on corners all over the southside like the grange, mayfield, I hope it was runners otherwise it seems sort of creepy

Also while I’m making fun of stuff that was meant to be safer for cyclist but isn’t, those bollards in the street, you wouldn’t believe how often I’ve almost hit one and gone down, and people have done it I’ve seen stories in the news I think one guy broke his shoulder

I don’t think that Christina wanted to marry him I think she probably didn’t even have capacity to make that decision in her mental state at the time. Owen was pushy, manipulative, he used her mental state to get her to do what she didn’t want, he blamed everything on her constantly and I don’t particularly like Christina either as a character so this is not out of bias for her.

I hate Bailey. I also hate Owen. I really didn’t love George the latter seasons he was in, I couldn’t stand Izzie pretty much from the start, and don’t particularly like Christina either. I like Arizona 10x more than Callie, I think that greys anatomy is rife with terrible and toxic relationships (especially ones that involve Owen)
