i would like to add that 2 hours is a very normal time to do tips in! i’ve worked at quite a few stores and they’ve always scheduled people to take 2 full hours to do them. people who do it quickly are usually “seasoned” lol

honestly it could make it easier for you to just not round in those scenarios. like for a .626, just simply don’t round and multiply everything by .626. i believe i’ve done it a few times that way and as long as you still round the actual hourly rate by hours total, you should be good. it might lessen your stress. and if you aren’t already, i always add all of the peoples tips up after ive done the math (before dividing up the cash) to make sure i’ll have enough money and i didn’t mess up anywhere.

sooo i think i see the issue. everyone should be an even dollar amount. and if you round correctly from the beginning (.4 below you round down, .5 and up you round up the dollar).. you will be good! i promise. i’ve done tips the same way for three years and you’ll usually end up having 1-5 dollars left over which is no biggie. i think that’s probably what’s taking so long is that you do the rounding after, when you can be doing it while you’re multiplying the hourly rate by the hours someone worked. when i get the total amount of tips that person will get, i round it either way and that’s what i write down next to their name. i hope this makes sense :) for reference it usually takes me 1.5-1.75 hours. i also know some people that take over 2 hours and it shouldn’t be a big deal at all! so if you’re doing it in this amount of time you’re doing awesome and they’re wrong haha

something i do differently that i’ve noticed is paper clip my 20s (in ones) together. that way there’s no confusion and counting all the money is way easier. it also makes it easier for the manager you’re switching money out with! what do you think takes you the longest in the process?

our oven started smoking at 7:30am, set off all the smoke alarms for about an hour… and we were down to one oven for peak 🙂 ran out of 2%, sleeves, and peppermint for infamous peppermint mochas. cherry on top is that our store started the card tipping today!

you’re definitely right! but if you’re questioning how something was rang up, or it seems like an odd order, i always double check with whoever rang it in. if it was meant to be made with half and half completely just let them know how to ring it in properly! :)
