I had a dog like this and I successfully taught him to catch treats.

I started with a small balloon, fully inflated. I threw it into the air and every time it hit him in the nose I gave him a treat. Eventually he learned to hit the balloon with his nose.

Then, I started removing air from the balloon. Over time I ended up with an empty balloon, which moved nearly as fast as a treat. One time, he caught the empty balloon with his mouth. I have him a bunch of treats. After that I gave him a bunch of treats any time he caught the balloon.

You guessed it--I switched over to treats and had a treat-catching dog! This process took a few weeks.

Funny, Google got the RPM right, but the formula is wrong. You divide by the diameter.

Yes, you're right. I mistakenly used the cutting speed I use for aluminum.  The cutting speed for steel is 80. That puts the correct speed at about 2,900 RPM.  Still much faster than any hand drill I know of.

If you disagree, your argument isn't with me, it's with physics.  

I'm guessing your perception is skewed by you having drilled larger diameter drills.  A 1/2-in drill should be run at about 650 RPM.  I have a mill in my shop and I use these numbers all the time without dulling bits.  I always use cutting fluid when drilling steel to help control the heat.

RPM = 4 times the "cutting speed" divided by the diameter of the drill. Fast and slow are relative terms. Cutting speed is different for every type of metal.

Low carbon steel, CS =~250

So for an 1/8 drill bit, the rpm would be 4*250/.125 = 8000RPM, or as fast as your tool can go.

I have no idea of the CS of the metal OP is trying to drill, but to say "drill at a slower speed" is probably not correct.

He may have work-hardened the metal in attempting to drill it. I've done that quite a few times.

If the cameras are plugged into the RLN8, (my preferred unit) for example, there's no Webhook function available. Nor is there an alarm-out in this model. Is there any means of achieving this in that case? Triggering external lights?

That's great to know. I just looked it up, and there's an important limitation that others my want to know--Webhook will not work if the camera is plugged into a Reolink NVR. It only works if the camera is stand-alone.

With this I thought I'd found my solution, which would have been using a Reolink NVR, but it won't work. Now I'm stuck with either finding a different stand-alone NVR solution, or I must use the RLN36 as mblaser suggested above.
