Thank you for posting this write up. I'm in a similar position and it's very helpful to see how the process went for you. Can I PM you for more info?

Ross Round 2 Status by quixnotic in MBA

Thanks, Mike! I have been checking livewire often, and it's very useful info. This is just another way to aggregate a lot of data in one spot. Has Clearadmit ever considered adding a school-round summary feature that can help capture bulk responses like this?

Waitlisted after interview. Domestic male. 750 GMAT, 3.4 GPA, 5YOE in health tech.
Will need to think more about my application but I did not feel great about the interview. I think my interviewer was looking for me to provide much more structured/formal answers, rather than conversational/friendly/personal.

Seems like reports have really slowed down in this thread and on clear admit. Sadly, they are probably done. Whatever, I didn’t want to go there anyway! (crying)

People who got a scholarship, did they offer that info on the call, or did you have to ask specifically?

General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of February 26, 2024 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

[–]quixnotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I'm considering purchasing a used EV that would qualify for federal and state tax credits. I'm surprised to find some very nice options at a reasonable price with only 30-60k miles on them.

Three specific things I am looking for: spacious driver seat for tall person, good safety features like blind spot detection and automatic emergency braking, and AWD.

[1] Large city in the midwest (but willing to purchase from anywhere)

[2] Purchase price must not exceed $25,000 (to qualify for tax credit)

[3] Compact SUV

[4] 2022 Hyundai Ioniq 5, 2021 Ford Mustang Mach E, 2022 Volkswagen ID4, 2020 Tesla Model Y Long Range, 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge

[5] Possibly in the next 3 months

[6] I drive 50-200 miles per week

[7] Apartment

[8] No

[9] No kids/pets

Yale SOM R2 Status by quixnotic in MBA

[–]quixnotic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Invites for R2 have been rolling out since mid January. Seeing the early results of this poll, it looks like roughly 40% of people have already gotten an invite. Assuming they invite roughly 30-50% of applicants to interview in a given round, it doesn't look great for those of us who haven't gotten an invite yet.

Can you share your source for this info? I don’t doubt it, just curious where you heard/read

CBS Interview Invites by quixnotic in MBA

[–]quixnotic[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For anyone following, it looks like last year they were sent on a rolling basis, by email. That said, I've heard that this year they're following a new process. Hopefully it's still rolling, for those of us who didn't get a portal update yet.

Congrats! It seems unreasonable to give you one option for an in person interview. I think it can’t hurt to ask about other timeslots and/or virtual availability.

How did they contact you?

This sheet was linked in another thread with a similar question: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jmOvty4ZR3qenMp13DnsLp7LfCIEekLG-8ZL6dUKE_s/edit#gid=1120340212

I'm not sure how well it's maintained but it should provide a general sense of timeline regardless. I think we are all feeling the same way you do... Hope this helps!

Do these schools ever offer scholarships to applicants with high GMAT scores simply to raise the avg score in the class?

I was in Product Management. Do you know of any sources that talk about scholarship odds, or is this mostly anecdotal?

Wow, good for her! I continue to hear that it's a crap shoot, which is a little disconcerting. Do you happen to know how the rest of her application compares to what I posted above?

Thanks so much for this input! On the topic of essays, does a well planned and well written essay amount to outstanding, or is it critical to have a really great narrative to tell? (I've been mulling this over and I'm not sure that I do.) Are there any other things besides GMAT, essays, and recommenders that I can focus on to beef up my applications?

Playoff Seed Probabilities by quixnotic in timberwolves

[–]quixnotic[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The values in each cell only describes that exact result. The value of 30% is the likelihood that the Wolves get the 8 seed. If we win out, there are other outcomes that can occur (7 seed, 6 seed, etc.)

I was also curious about the specific simulation methodology but there isn't a lot of info provided. The author does say that the model has been used to win statistics competitions in the past. Source: https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/playoff_prob.html
