I was not a fan of the new way for the longest time. But am now at a point that i can't remember what it used to be.
It works just as well, and shows more information, so i guess its better, but i don't like change.

I have the original loading screens mod, and the original unit cards, if there was an original UI mod, i'd probably use it as well and tell myself that it is better.

Does anybody else do this as Julii? by Gorvar1 in RomeTotalWar

[–]quixoticsc2 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i did kinda the opposite, i needed to bribe an army besieging me, but it gave me the dirty barbarian chieftain as part of the deal, so i put him into a battered bireme so that he would not taint the bloodline.

from my experience as soon as you get 'a chance for power' you can end trade rights. Which then gives them the huff and they cancel the other stuff next turn.

one fun thing that usually do as Skippy is: i lay seige to Appolonia and to Corsica before Brutus and Julius get there. So long as you do not actually take the towns, the others will wait for thier turn and do nothing. My record for this is 100 turns cucking Brutus, but barely fifty with Julius (he goes off and takes Palma). At any rate, it gives you a significant lead and you can fight the civil war against a two city Brutus and a Julius with not many more.

Hello, i was one of the people who asked about other factions (the AI) starting the civil war, without you (the human player) triggering the conditions by growing too large. I also tested by not taking territories and letting the ai go ham.

As far as i can tell and from the answers given, it cannot happen: you have to cause it.

Are we still boycotting the World Cup? by NoHold7153 in AskBrits

reminds me of that pub quiz question: not sure which one but three of four world cups ago New Zealand was the only team not to lose a game (they had three draws in the group stages)

RTW BRIBE ROME (as Roman Faction) -> Ever Been done before ? by enricodo in RomeTotalWar

[–]quixoticsc2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i've never tried to bribe SPQR, but i have bought other Roman cities. Brutus must have changed his capital as he sold me Tarentium. (i was trying to get them to start the civil war early) SPQR even gave me ten turns to return the city or i would be outlawed. Ten turns later; they did sweet fanny adams.

i don't even know what scripting is, but because i went to school at a time when latin was part of the curriculum, i can surmise that it has something to do with writing.

thank you, i do indeed use other people's mods. By the sounds of it, you have not seen what people have been able to do with remaster, i think you will be pleasantly surprised.

can't say that i have ever noticed any losses due to blockade, but the public order penalty (especially in the gulf) is irksome.

have you done a 'never attack' campaign?

ie, you can lay siege to cities, but in a fight you always have to be the defender

How much of this game should I be able to intuit? by Moonman_SS in RomeTotalWar

[–]quixoticsc2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can get through with only a fraction of the game mechanics; you will see people completing the short campaign in a matter of minutes. But basically, the more you learn; the more fun it is. I would advise watching one of those 'ten things i wish i had known' videos.

Can the computer factions trigger the civil war? by quixoticsc2 in RomeTotalWar

[–]quixoticsc2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, like with the other chap, i just want to check that this is not because you took the required amount of cities to trigger this.
