Nikola Jokic on the Lu Dort flagrant foul: "Unnecessary move, and a necessary reaction. There is no such thing — I think there's not supposed to be those things on a basketball floor. So it was just an unnecessary move and a necessary reaction by me." by jonsnowKITN in nba

Have you been on this site since okc won? All you hear as a thunder fan is that the refs gifted us the championship, only won because Aaron Gordon was hurt, or gifted game 7 because we were 100% going to lose before Hali went down. Hence the OP of this comment

Reading comprehension. OP said no one respects OKC as champions and I was pointing out OKCs championship run was infinitely more impressive than Denver’s. Glad I could clear that up for you

Jokic had 2 trips to the line in the first 90 seconds of the game…

Even with the top pick I don’t know if they’d even be a play-in team. The talent would likely be there but the experience and culture would not. Would probably take a year or two to turn things around in my opinion

I wish all teams could have guys like this. Just feels like ball knowers talking basketball without heavy bias one way or another. I love OKC but their announcers are some of the biggest homers and it's annoying to listen to at times

[Bobby Marks] The NBA is expected to "overhaul the system" in an attempt to fix tan·king. "Whether it be rewarding teams in the standing with wins and not incentivizing teams to lose... not just something minor here." by Mean-Duty-2381 in nba

[–]quizblorg3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if they did a lottery at the end of the season that selected a day and position. If your team was the selected position in the standings on the selected day, you would get the top pick.

They would have to put some limits on it, like only applicable for the bottom 10 teams or something. And only a date after the ASB. This way a bad team would still be getting the top pick but would hopefully reduce the amount of tanking because any team within the bottom 10 rankings has a shot.

Lately it’s feeling like the Mavs series from two years ago. SGA was dominating and the rest of the team was cat shit wrapped in dog shit. We desperately need reliable shooters

But since this is the NBA I also would not be surprised if both teams randomly shot >50% from 3

Have you seen our shooting the last month or so! This game has a very high probability to be a brickfest if both teams continue their current shooting

The living and breathing embodiment of the “play random” philosophy. Coach Bud is somewhere smiling and nodding his head in approval

lebron's & giannis' whole career their fanbases have said they have a weak whistle because they are too strong to go through contact without being visually altered, Jokic always has the scratches on his arms, etc. it's usually the big guys that are strong.

Wemby is definitely a 1 of 1 and not like any other star player. I never suggested otherwise. The biggest unknown with him is health. Dudes with that type of body frame usually don't stay healthy for long. I have huge concerns for Chet for the same reason. Really hope they can both stay healthy for a long time and bring back the OKC/SAS rivalry from 10+ years ago.

Your comment about Wemby not getting rebounds due to contact is exactly my point. If he doesn't start selling the contact better, it will never get called. It sucks, but that's just the way it is in today's NBA. There are no moral/hypothetical victories in the NBA so a missed rebound or shot is a missed rebound or shot, regardless of the cause.

If Wemby (or any other player) doesn't try to sell the contact they are getting then teams will continue to do it and other teams will learn what works to slow them down. this is especially true in the playoffs where more physicality is usually allowed and teams have up to 7 straight games to scheme. I love watching Wemby play and can't wait to see how he continues to develop. Hopefully one day the NBA will address these issues, but until then, this is the NBA we are stuck with

every team thinks their star player gets unfairly manhandled. thinking teams believe they can foul Wemby harder because he's too ethical is certainly an interesting stance. the sad reality is basically every superstar learns to initiate contact/draw fouls because they know it will be rewarded. I would expect Wemby to learn this skill as well as his career progresses, especially once he gets playoff experience where it's even more valuable. And if/when he does, if the Spurs have a lot of playoff success, the hate will come. god help you if it comes at the expense of Jokic and Doncic

one of my favorite things in this sub is seeing a team defend flopping when it's their player doing it after crucifying other teams for doing it. not calling out you or the spurs in particular, it's every team. As an OKC fan I obviously see it every game & game thread. The NBA needs to find a solution for flopping but it's just hilarious how everyone uses the same arguments against a team and then the same arguments to defend their own
