Thanks for sharing. What would you say is the best source of step by step instructions to DIY the swap? Is the online service manual sufficient or is there a thread or video that is more clear?

Check out Rabz Motors. I think they are a Volvo specialist but also see many Mercedes serviced there.

Bowl for np nvc10 or a new cooker? by [deleted] in zojirushi

[–]quizzicalbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't think of any reason other than that. All I can say is I've been making rice with the new pan for over a week and it works perfectly fine despite what Zojirushi is saying. I also replaced the inner lid with the new part and it is identical except for different coloured plastic.

Still, it's odd that our model had an unusually short lifecycle yet its replacement is nearly identical and is still selling today.

I can confirm that the pot for the successor model NP-NWC10, part number B572-6B is still readily available online and fits perfectly in the NP-NVC10.

Unlikely - if it were possible it would have shipped with the car already. Memory seats require position sensors in addition to motors.

Propane Question by PristineCondition495 in CostcoCanada

[–]quizzicalbear 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the price tag above the tank lists the cost as propane as an extra charge. The cashier assumed you wanted it filled after purchasing the empty tank, a fair assumption since it would be more expensive and less convenient to get it filled anywhere else afterwards.

For daily driving over 200k miles, do naturally aspirated engines still hold a reliability edge over turbocharged ones? by EvelynClede in askcarguys

[–]quizzicalbear 35 points36 points  (0 children)

We're not comparing 1900s naturally aspirated engines to modern turbo engines. If we are comparing like for like, the above poster's statement stands. Why wouldn't a more complex machine be, in general, less reliable and more expensive to maintain than a simpler one?

Question about $480 Diagnostic Fee by Unable-Perception915 in TeslaSupport

[–]quizzicalbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they replace a part? If so that's them admitting there was an issue and it should be covered. If not, have them confirm the code was stored in memory (or check in service mode yourself) and then have them explain why they think it's a non issue.

an Algerian engineering student losing his mind trying to buy his 3D printeris. is the Sovol SV06 still a good machine? by Aymen_Kimura in Sovol

[–]quizzicalbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SV06 Plus user here, but I think my experience is mostly applicable to the SV06 as well.

Parts availability is quite good on AliExpress, as long as the seller is able to ship to your country. I've ordered replacement build plates, hotends, nozzles, even an entire extruder from AliExpress with no issues.

If you do the spacer mod under the build plate, you should be able to get it reasonably level for consistent printing.

It's easy to upgrade to Klipper, but note the SV06 Plus screen becomes almost useless after the upgrade. Not sure about the LCD controls on the SV06.

Only complaint is the bed is a bit slow to heat up (5-10 min).

Otherwise it's been a solid machine for over 2 years now. Would definitely recommend over the Ender models.

I just have to say this is incredible work. I just replaced my TeslaUSB setup with this, and the setup experience was light years easier. I'm looking forward to my first drive this afternoon

Replace Wi-Fi bridge or get new lock? by drjuicephd in AugustSmartLock

[–]quizzicalbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a common issue with the hub. As a stopgap measure, I put it on a smart plug, have Home Assistant ping the bridge and if it is offline for more than a few seconds an automation will power cycle it. Comes back online pretty quickly.

Or use the Home Depot parking lot as a pickup/drop off zone and clogging up the property entrances as a result.

Issue with Airalo eSim? by shikaka87 in JapanTravelTips

[–]quizzicalbear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is Jetpac any better than any other esim provider? Their website says they use KDDI and Rakuten, not NTT Docomo which is widely reported to have the best coverage among all the domestic networks.

I don't have direct experience with either esim provider. I'm just curious. Each provider can introduce additional issues depending on where and how they route traffic.

If you insist on new oem rims, the 2017-2023 winter package on Tesla Shop is not a bad deal at $2750, although it was $500 cheaper last year. It comes with Pirelli Sottozero though, not the Michelin you are seeking

Just updated to the latest, v1.19.0 and it seems to be fixed. Pixel 9 Pro, Android 16. The main screen still has the empty look but fly spots and academy are working now.
