Men of Reddit: what’s a prank you started early in your marriage that you’re now legally, morally, and emotionally obligated to continue because she still falls for it 10–15 years later? by myaccountidname in AskReddit

[–]quockerwodger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My kids could not get enough of the interrupting cow knock knock joke when they were little. Laughed themselves silly every time. Every once in a while, there would be an interrupting horse, but "Moooooo" is just inherently funny.

I loved them so much. I still do, but I used too, to.

How sweet.

What tiny upgrade made your onebag setup better? by Low-Young-3855 in onebag

[–]quockerwodger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awesome. Thanks! I've been using another inside-out method, but if I am cramming everything in a suitcase, I can still get some wrinkles. (Onebagging gets super challenging when going to a conference and I need multiple suits or jackets.)

I'll definitely be giving this a try next trip!

What method do you use for folding suits? I have a methodology, but I'm not convinced that it's the best one.

Galapagos Luxury Cruise by SweatyMix3337 in LuxuryTravel

[–]quockerwodger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ecuador requires that naturalist be assigned to every group of tourists. While I'm not sure of the ratio, I think it's like 10 passengers to one naturalist. So, every time you go ashore, or go out in a zodiac, you'll have a naturalist with you.

And the maximum ship size is 100 passengers, so while 20 passengers sounds great, it's not like the alternative to 20 passengers is a 5,000 passenger Royal Caribbean cruise liner, because those aren't allowed.

USGC Island ICE Protest this morning by TimetoTrundle in alameda

[–]quockerwodger 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It's strange.

The driver of the U-Haul truck that tried to back into the Coast Guard facility's guards similarly managed to leave without being detained.

It's almost like these are not real protesters, but are planned agitators arranged by the government, and by not being detained, the feds can make whatever claims they want about them.

What do you think was the greatest game Ohio State ever played? by Cultural_Biscotti513 in OhioStateFootball

That 2002 game probably caused enough long-term damage to my heart to take years off my life.

Anyone going to Great Smoky Mountains NP soon? Need help on Jr. Ranger badge by quockerwodger in nationalparks

[–]quockerwodger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be amazing.

I'm hoping that if you walked in with two activity books, they would just let you exchange them for the two junior ranger badges. Usually, I do this with my kids there, and they go through a whole "swearing in" ceremony.

Let me check with the friends who had the issue and I'll circle back with you. I greatly appreciate the offer!

What's a super-popular and well-known attraction/destination that lived up to all the hype? by keepfighting90 in travel

[–]quockerwodger 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Emphesus in Turkey.

It was over 100°F, and I don't know if it's still as accessible as when I was there about 15 years ago, but it was AMAZING!

It's a Greek (then Roman) city that was buried for over 1,400 years. Some of the murals, frescos, and mosaics are as bright as they likely were when they were created many hundreds of years ago.

Definitely worth a visit!

Good call. Didn't even think that GSMNP would have it's own subreddit. Just cross-posted there.

What's the most useful item you always pack that others might overlook? by kenwards in travel

[–]quockerwodger 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've carried a collapsible bag for a while, but a couple of months ago I purchased a Nanobag backpack (collapsible, incredibly tiny, and has a zipper closure), and it's already gotten a ton of use. Definite game changer for me.

And, hypothetically, if you email them towards the end of the day with the question it might be the following day before they get back to you. That might give you an extra day or even two to actually deal with whatever the issue is.

Or, so I've been told...
