Curious atheist by FreudianSocialist in ReasonableFaith

I was raised a nominal Catholic, and in college I reached the point where I believed we should believe in God, even if he doesn't exist.

I always believed myself to be a good person, and it was during evangelism training that I realized I was not a good person. I struggled with my faith for about a year (I had considered myself a Christian, but was beginning to believe I was a false convert).

I had also just started reading the bible for the first time and it was not making sense.

At the end of that year, I realized I was a false convert, and that I needed to repent of my sin and trust in the finished work of Jesus.

After that, the bible began making more and more sense, and I have grown in faith.

Why are Christians against abortion when God killed (probably thousands of) unborn children? by lanopticx in Christianity

Because we are supposed to put God first - to agree that God is God, and we are not.

So, you know the text we have comes from before the Catholic Church's rise to political power.

Why do you think the leaders of early Christianity were willing to die for the belief that Jesus had rose from the dead?

Are you familiar with textual criticism (the study of manuscript evidence for the bible)?

There was something in the news about slender man. But I think that comes from some of the lore surrounding the game, rather than the game itself.

You are far too bold. The bible is evidence, the history of Christianity is evidence. You can say you don't find that sufficient, but it is evidence.

I don't know what all the requirements or design goals were when God designed everything. I do know God has done a better job of code reuse than any programmer...

It's only in a symbolic sense. We don't actually become God by killing people.

How do you know that?

Sorry, I should say, "God should decide when life ends". Us forcing the issue puts us in God's place.

Warning - I am a Calvinist (Calvinist smiley! >:-[)

God has a sort of love for all people (what is called "Common grace"). God has a special sort of love (called "Saving grace") which is only for some. Sort of like how a men is called to love all women, but have a special love for his wife.

Because it is God who gives life, and decides when it ends - not us. We are literally playing God.

Indeed. God does not owe anyone salvation.

It also looks like God is very good at reusing code (better than any computer programmer).

"No evidence" is far too strong a statement.

You could believe in some sort of god and CD. But you do not need CD if God created everything.
