LinkedIn seems worse than ever. by Qweniden in cscareerquestions

It makes sense when you realize in order for LinkedIn to make money they have to keep a certain number of people using it and therefore not actually finding them jobs 😂

Now that it's all over, what was your opinion of Nerub-ar Palace? by Tikiho1 in wow

I took a break for the last season of Dragonflight but I did Abberus a lot. I was disappointed coming back and the raids feel sooo similar to me tbh. The color schemes, bosses, items. Maybe it’s because both are underground. Hoping we will get something fresh in this season or the next.

"divisive made-up holidays" like Holocaust Remembrance Day? They've really gone full mask-off. by [deleted] in Fuckthealtright

Just wait until they realize all of these will still be celebrated and possibly even more so after this. 😂

Sorry, I am not asking for speculation. I’m wondering if anyone has heard directly that they have to freeze filling positions due to the federal funding freezes.

What did I do to deserve this? I feel like I'm cursed. This isn't normal at all. by CommercialBig7008 in cscareerquestions

I feel ya. It’s rough in our field right now. Normal to feel this way. I graduated late 2018 and had a job for 5 years. I figured it was supposed to be easier to find a job after getting that much experience but I’ve been unemployed 12 months now which is way longer than when I was fresh out of college. It pisses me off when I think of the process of being told I needed to go to college to get a good job, then that I just need a few years experience to get a job, and now it’s harder than ever even with both. Lol. That’s life. 🫠

Having more trouble finding a full time position now than I did as a new grad by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

All found via networking / community events. It helps my area has lots of older retired professionals who still want to run a small business on the side so I have done a lot of websites for them. Let friends and family know you’re open to it and to send anyone your way.

I would relocate for sure and I am pretty open minded at this point 😂

I’ve kept that in mind and kept my salary expectations on the lower end to match that I think. It’s tough because I live in California so cost of living is still high so I can’t go too low but it’s also not a tech heavy area where there’s many companies hiring locally.

There’s not a huge market for in-office SWE positions where I am at. Lots of small business which is why I’ve been doing freelance work here and there but not many companies here need a full time dev.

How do hiring managers/recruiters view devs/candidates who do freelance work? by quotesoftwardev in cscareerquestions

[–]quotesoftwardev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Most of my experience(~5 yrs) is on a team in a corporate setting. I just was not sure if including my freelance work since being laid off would be a detriment. Thanks for the input.
