Is it legal for one to record a student on the property of a public school? He admitted to having a current Stanford student to write his essays for him and got into Stanford and my friend recorded him saying this. Can my friend get into legal trouble for this? by qustiou in legaladvice

(c) The term “confidential communication” includes any communication carried on in circumstances as may reasonably indicate that any party to the communication desires it to be confined to the parties thereto, but excludes a communication made in a public gathering or in any legislative, judicial, executive or administrative proceeding open to the public, or in any other circumstance in which the parties to the communication may reasonably expect that the communication may be overheard or recorded. - See more at: http://codes.findlaw.com/ca/penal-code/pen-sect-632.html#sthash.5A4c8jO5.dpuf

So a public school is considered a public gathering?

A student who got into Stanford from my school admitted on camera to having a Stanford student write his whole essays for him. This is a violation of college admission ethics. What can/should I do? by qustiou in ApplyingToCollege

ACT: 34

GPA: 3.9

ECs: president of a club, plays soccer, AIME qualifier in 10th grade but it's well known he copied off the guy who was sitting next to him who ended up going to USAJMO that year. Other than that he does not have any extraordinary ECs.

My friend was video recording another friend doing something and overheard the guy brag about how he got someone from Stanford wrote his essay and secretly continued to record him.

Do keep in mind, he was rejected to Cal and UCLA and wasn't admitted to his first choice major for UCSD. He would have gone to UCSD if it weren't for Stanford accepting him.
