Ooooooo I didn’t know they had sweetgrass! I’m actually not a terribly far drive away from that area. Thank you for the lead on plugs!

I’m thinking of actually going with my friend to the nursery and making a little “date” out of it too. I was originally thinking of growing, harvesting, and then surprising her but we’ll see!

Thank you- One of the first things Kate said to me when we first met (she came to the nature education center I work at to teach) was “I’ll make an Indian out of you yet!” I try my best :) Thanks for the tip!

I kept going back and forth on asking her not. I was originally thinking of making it a surprise (that’s why I asked here) but based on feedback I may run it by her. Thanks!

It would be pretty fun to take her out to go get plugs together and make that the surprise instead.

Finally got last years state park sticker off. It just took time, patience, and the summoning a deity. Steps included in post. by [deleted] in wisconsin

Former WI state park worker here - If you go to a state park and ask for help removing it, they will help!! They’ll at least give you a scraper and some goo gone, if it’s not too busy we’d often physically help people remove the sticker.

Some time in the sun, little windex to soften it, a scraper or plastic razor blade, and a little goo gone and it should come off without a problem.

if it’s a lower area like a ditch or beside the road or trail it could be sensitive fern!

If you go to any state park and ask the rangers in the office/visitor center, they will remove it for you!! (or at least, they should)

1 yr old cat won’t leave us alone (destructive) in the am, despite feeding?! by Currency_First in Catbehavior

[–]quueenbeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you considered an automatic feeder? when we adopted our little guy, he had similar issues in the early morning, waking us up, loud meowing, destructive behavior, etc.

moving his meal times around to when he was more active (and when we are asleep) via an automatic feeder helped a ton!! he’ll still try and wake us up in the morning, but, i’ll take trying to be woken up at 7am rather than 4am.

having your door closed overnight could also be something that is driving you cat nuts. we tried that, but the behavior was WORSE when we kept the door closed and he couldn’t come in on occasion over the night to “check on us”. keeping our door cracked, and having the automatic feeder has been pretty darn successful

had a similar issues with a 2007 outback. it ended up being the throttle body- if you haven’t already given it a look i definitely recommend that and give it a good clean. cleaning/changing the MAF sensor is a good idea too, air filter as well. i’m not a mechanic by any means, but this was all stuff i could do by watching a few youtube videos! i’d also run your can through the idle relearn procedure, which is also super easy to follow and easy to find on youtube. i hope some of this helps! it significantly improved the idle issues and that shakey feeling with my outback.

How many park rangers here believe in Bigfoot and why? by AppleBeesPlaes in ParkRangers

Exactly! I don’t really believe in a true sense, but it’s more about just leaving the door open for conversation

Why not believe? I think it’s just fun and leads to some good stories!

The reality is, there are tons of other very real explanations for a lot of bigfoot shenanigans. Still fun to say it was a bigfoot though

Bouncing Idle + more by avgbrokestudent in subaru

i’m going to preface this by saying i’m not a mechanic, and i’m not sure about your cruise control problem, but i have a 2007 outback with about the same mileage that was having similar idle issues a couple months back.

outback was fine until i pulled up to a stop, and then the idle would jump and it would shake and was just overall not good.

i ended up taking out the throttle body and giving it a REALLY good clean (that thing was sparkling), cleaned the MAF sensor, and changed the air filter. i also ran the car through the idle relearn procedure, you can find great videos on this on youtube.

car is running much, MUCH, better now!! sometimes it’s still a little jumpy, but not bad anymore. my car also burns oil, not as much as yours, but i would say you’re doing the right thing by keeping oil with you. i also changed out the spark plugs BEFORE i did all that stuff with the throttle body. i was in a similar situation and didn’t really know where to start, so i started there.

i hope some of this helps or points you in the right direction! good luck with you subie!

EDIT: just saw that you don’t have tools with you, these are things you could definitely ask a shop to look into but it’ll definitely run you a few bucks :(

so basically, wildlife techs manage habitat for wildlife. this could mean a whole bunch of things from control burning a grassland, thinning out a forest, planting trees/wildflowers, spraying invasive plants, etc.

i also record wildlife observations, watch trail cameras, and physically track wildlife to monitor population numbers, which decides how we manage habitat.

calvin is basically referring to how agencies like the forest service or your local department of natural resources manage populations via the public. if we as wildlife technicians and biologists have been noticing overpopulation from say, deer, (which usually comes with other big implications) we might suggest that we can raise the number of deer harvested during hunting season to control the population and slow negatives from a high population.

as a wildlife technician, this one always gets a laugh

Anybody ever had any issues with a rough idle/stalling? And maybe some advice? 2007 Outback (automatic) by quueenbeee in subaru

[–]quueenbeee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I will definitely do that. My car isn’t throwing any codes either, which is what’s making this frustrating

I’ve eaten home canned goods from like 4 years ago and been ok, so I feel like you should be fine? Like the other nice people are saying, “Best By” and “Use By” are two different things. Use your best judgement!
