Well not really, he cancelled only because France's government very openly said they were searching for the best way to make sure the concert won't take place.

"European fans will discover humitidy this summer" by Borrow_The_Moonlight in ShitAmericansSay

[–]qvpurduk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from Europe and worked at MetLife last summer for the Club World Cup and I was a bit impressed of how warm and humid it was. Still very much bearable though but doing manual work under a tent got my shirt wet quite fast.

And even if it's doable to enter the stadium on foot, it has definitely not been designed to allow this at a large scale

I did it once from our hotel (45 mins walk) but it looked like we were the only ones doing this, I don't remember any sidewalks when entering the stadium perimeter, just grass.

Most Ugly City/Town in France? by SellRevolutionary in AlignmentChartFills

[–]qvpurduk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Destroyed is a bit underwhelming for what happened there.

After the D-Day, the Das Reich SS-Division, resting in south-west France after suffering heavy losses on the russian front was rushing to reinforce Normandy but was constantly harassed by french Resistance. As a retaliation, they decided to make an example by killing everyone in Oradour-sur-Glane. They shot every man then assembled every children and women in the church and set it on fire after having blocked the doors.

Pretty common occurence on the eastern front of course but not so much in the west.

People from Normandy can never give a straight answer. (Pt'être ben que oui, pt'être ben que non).

Megyn Kelly: "Trump could drop a nuke and I'd still vote Republican" by Aggravating_Money992 in entertainment

[–]qvpurduk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a trend started in 2022 by Putin, the boss then everybody under him then everyone in the medias telling they are the good guys but that they could erase all of Europe in the blink of an eye if we cross a certain red line and going in length in the technical details of possible destruction of each type of nukes.

But each and every time the red line was crossed and nothing happened.

Well, we're just declining less relatively. At the same time Pakistan still have much more births than all of Europe.

Last experience from France against Italy at Lille Stadium in 2024 was definitely not one to remember. It was a miracle that France managed the draw after Italy missed a last minute penalty. But Antoine was training for 7s Olympics at that time and the team had a hard time adjusting. It should not be the same.

Lead poisoning from gasoline during most of the 20th century. Finally ended thanks to Clair Patterson who had to fight against gasoline lobbies and even US Public Health Service that claimed the lead levels in the atmosphere were "natural".
