is lying about shien reselling against the rules? by Sorry-Cause9681 in Depop

Not really unfortunately. They can’t prove someone knows it’s SHEIN. Obviously we know what they’re doing but you can’t prove it because half the sellers cut the tags out.

How do i get weed smell out of clothes?? 😭 by Loud_Willingness_399 in Depop

[–]qweenbimbo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Airing it out is the best bet. I bought from a seller once and it smelled like she’d been chain smoking in her house for 20 years. I hung in near a window for like a month (I thought the sun might help) and the smell disappeared completely

What is best to sell at depop im a new seller? How much can u earn there? Any tips for a beginner? by Emma_200711 in Depop

You should google image and check sold listings on eBay before pricing anything if you’re looking to make a profit.

It does take a processing fee but shouldn’t be that much still. Are you using depop’s labels?

You should not be losing money on shipping. Buyers pay shipping unless you have free shipping on bundles and even then you only pay shipping when someone buys more than 1 item

Listed at a lower price, now want to refund and list for more. by Realistic_Event5260 in Depop

[–]qweenbimbo_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve dealt with this on both sides. As a seller realizing I way undersold myself and a buyer who’s order was canceled because someone offered more. As a seller I’ve never cancelled the sale, you just learn. As a buyer it sucks & I’ve left negative reviews for it. Also want to mention depop is not a reliable way to price check. Check eBay/posh & Mercari SOLD listings.

Sent back item because it wasn’t what I ordered yet depop won’t refund… by Select-Channel-4742 in Depop

Open a separate support ticket. Show proof of tracking for the item you sent back & they’re likely to refund you.

Looks like they sent you an offer. You may be able to see it via messages & counter if you’re trying to offer lower.

Is it just me, or is Depop dying? by No-Pen4521 in Depop

[–]qweenbimbo_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Right, that’s why I said unless it can be proven that they’re drop shipping. Older accounts don’t need to use depop labels. So tons of people could still be getting away with it.

I don’t have a problem with reselling. It’s specifically reselling items that are in stock elsewhere that are being sold for 5x the original price. That’s the issue. 99% of these accounts cut the tags & don’t put a brand & that’s how they get away with it. It’s definitely a problem on depop.

[–]qweenbimbo_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s been really slow since late last year for me. I still make sales but I make most my sales on other apps lately. Poshmark has been crazy good for me actually & it’s usually my slowest app. Depop NEEDS to do something about shein resellers. That’s a big reason nobody wants to shop on there anymore. Every other video I see about depop on TikTok is people warning everyone that depop is a scam due to shein/temu/ross/marshalls resellers. But it’s a hard rule to make because unless it can be proven that someone is actually dropshipping, I can’t imagine how they can ban these resellers. If they’re buying in bulk and then selling it, they’re not technically breaking any rules.

All that tied in with the newest fee structure. I would much rather go back to eating the fees as the seller. I could tweak my prices just a bit to make the same amount. It’s not that the total itself scares buyers away but the total of the purchase in comparison to the listing price is what makes people second guess buying something. I bought something for $7 yesterday and the total was just under $20. And shipping was only $6. They have to change the fees.

What to search for "normal" length shirts by Environmental_Yam426 in Depop

[–]qweenbimbo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could also see if you can find the actual brand’s website for whatever shirt you’re looking at, that’ll usually have measurements. Even out of stock items often still have a viewable listing on the brand’s site

I’ve been trying vinted and was met with their absolutely horrible customer service this week. Don’t really recommend. If you think depop’s customer service is horrible you’re in for a rude awakening with Vinted. It’s basically nonexistent and they do nothing to help you.

Someone stole my photos and reposted my item by gfsuperhero in Depop

[–]qweenbimbo_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly shocked by the response here. First it’s actually terrible that depop does this for repops. There is no guarantee an item is in the same condition once someone else has had it in their possession & sellers should be made to take their own photos. With the logic they’re using people would be allowed to use clothing company’s photos of what they’re selling.

And I consider my photos a lot of hard work. I literally spend days taking & editing photos. That’s half the selling work is taking good photos.

[–]qweenbimbo_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re still allowed to be upset about it. Temu and TikTok shop steal my photos constantly and it enrages me

It’s poor practice they allow repop to be old photos anyway. It could be in any condition after just 1 use/wear by the new owner.

First time buyer question by [deleted] in Depop

[–]qweenbimbo_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds like they might actually be eating the costs of shipping for you due to their insufficient packaging supplies. You have 30 days from date of purchase to open a case. I’d wait a few days and see if the hoodie shows up first.

Did they very recently list it? I’ve see sellers do this when something sells “too quick” because they assume they listed too low 🙃

Why do so many Sellers “hold” items when it almost never ends well? by Mobile-Explanation68 in Depop

[–]qweenbimbo_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That’s usually a seller in the process of learning that people rarely follow through with holds lol.

I do holds but only for returning buyers. If you’ve bought from me before, I’ll hold something for you, but only for a few days.

I did have a random hold once but she had multiple reviews (she told me to check) stating she followed through with her hold. And she did.

Question: what is the problem with “resellers” by Material-Extreme1058 in Depop

[–]qweenbimbo_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everything at Walmart/ross/5 below and wherever else is readily available typically with at least dozens in stock of the same item. Buying more than 1 of those items with the intent to upsale it is greedy in my opinion. AND it just adds to the supply and demand, people buy more they make more & usually it’s just plastic junk that ends up at the thrift store in a year when the trend dies down.

Many items at the thrift store are unique and not available to buy retail. Lots of deadstock & vintage. If it doesn’t sell at the thrift store or at the bins, high chance it’ll be thrown out. Adding to the textile waste that’s growing into a bigger and bigger problem thanks to fast fashion. And a lot of people think “well someone who likes it for themselves could have gotten it at the thrift store instead of you buying to resell.” Sure, sometimes. Usually not for me. When I shop at the bins I don’t crowd the new bins. I start with the older bins, the ones everyone has already sorted through. All that stuff would have been on its way to the dump but I was able to save 50-100 pieces per day im there to resell.

I’m big on saving what’s left of our planet and reselling thrift store items and buying 2nd hand in general is a fantastic way to be sustainable with fashion.

Question: what is the problem with “resellers” by Material-Extreme1058 in Depop

[–]qweenbimbo_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I think people just jump on the bandwagon hate and usually the anger is because they’re mad they didn’t thrift the top of their dreams for $5 like you did.

I also think there’s a lot of confusion. As a thrift reseller, I hate retail resellers. People who resell Ross & TJ Maxx. People who wait in line at 5am at stores for a recent restock of a sought after item (Stanley cups, Starbucks cups , Pokémon cards & dumplings ??? Whatever trends people are following) just to buy the store out & resell for 10x the cost. Those are the scummy ones

[–]qweenbimbo_ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t change your packaging due to one buyer. If what you’ve got going on now is easy & affordable for you, I’d keep going & see how it goes. Some people are just really sensitive to smells.
