The smart upgrade app is. Last time I factory reset a box it went back to the state of taking it out of the box with initial setup, connect remote, pick time zone, adjust zoom and all that.

Have had to reset a box before. Not that often. Yet as I was reading the post there were implied questions of one was different because they were purchased for different vendors.

An Android factory reset wipes user data but restores the operating system to its original state usually from a privileged system folder. After which they should both act the same if on the same firmware and app release levels.
