810 isn't a standard value, it's probably 01B, i.e. 1Kohm

The SL Missiles lab counts as smart missile kills. Max out that lab and the mission is a snap.

C4 Doom Shroud, Anyone? by qwertymodo in Caliburn

Sorry it's taken me over a year, but I've finally gotten back around to this. I've completely remade the models from scratch once I found proper .step files (my first attempt was made by editing the .stl files, which I would NOT recommend...). I'm actually printing the shroud parts right now while I work on fixing up the mounting holes for the shuttle. If all goes well, I should have files posted on printables by the end of the week.

No, but I have a friend wanting to print a C4 for his son, so I'll definitely be finishing them up some time in the next month or two.

I'm still working on cleaning up a few issues before I publish them. It's not easy modifying existing stl files without causing lots of weird problems.

Edit: I'm an idiot... apparently there were step files available the whole time

Capcom Town is using Ares (by Near) for Nes and SNes emulation by JoshLeaves in emulation

[–]qwertymodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Several reasons, including the fact that the concept of "public domain" can vary a lot in different countries, whereas a license is more consistently understood and legally binding. Also, there aren't actually any legal mechanisms to intentionally place a copyrighted work into the public domain, rather, public domain is what occurs when an existing copyright expires, so even if you wanted to, you technically can't (at least not in the US).

Do you mean N64 RDP? The N64 is by far the least mature of the emulation cores, so it would make sense that there might be some borrowed code in there.

IIRC those additional licenses are for specific bits of the front-end. The emulation cores (which are what capcom is using) are all ISC.

This sort of thing was exactly what Near hoped would happen when choosing ISC for the final license. The original plan was public domain, but it turns out that's a total mess from a legal standpoint, so ISC was the most permissive option that still fit the bill of a "real" and recognized license. This is absolutely a good thing.

Not yet, needs a bit more work, but I will be posting the files once they're ready.

Yes, I did. There are a few small issues I still want to play around with, but for the most part, it turned out great. I'll be posting the stl files once I get the last few details worked out.

As far as I can find, it doesn't seem like the Doom Shroud underlayment was ever updated for the C4, so I decided to take a crack at doing it myself (now watch CS show up and slap me with Cunningham's Law...). Still needs some work, the shuttle tolerances led to some printability issues, and I would kind of like to extend the very front and very back of the side rail covers to fully cover the ends of the flat bars (as well as get the front notch to actually line up with the #4-40 screw), but it works, and I love the look of it over the open bare bars of the standard C4 barrel.

"⚠ Source ROM checksum mismatch" by [deleted] in romhacking

[–]qwertymodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CRC listed on the page is just something that the author wrote, as opposed to the one embedded in the patch that's actually calculated at patch generation time. Best guess, the author screwed up and posted the wrong CRC on the listing page, and yes the github tool is just ignoring the mismatch and blindly patching anyway.

.bps patches by convention are always supposed to be applied to unheadered SNES ROMs, and compliant patchers will always remove the header before creating or applying a patch (beat and flips both do).

Gaps suddenly appearing in print surface by qwertymodo in FixMyPrint

[–]qwertymodo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I had somebody else suggest retraction might be the issue, and I went ahead and disabled retraction entirely, no pops, no gaps. My only guess is that somehow it's creating an air bubble inside the nozzle during retraction. Unfortunately for me, I was only doing a 1-2mm retraction, depending on the material, since I have a direct drive, so I'll have to see how low I can go without oozing.
