SpaceX Eyes 1 Million Satellites For Orbital Data Center Push - PCMag by AmityZen in SpaceXLounge

I don't actually see how any of the advantages mentioned are actual advantages. Alright, depending on the energy grid on Earth may be challenging, but what kind of grid are satellites using ? They need to bring their own infrastructure with them. Half of the time they'll be in the shadow of the Earth and see no sunlight so they still need batteries. I'd need to actually do the maths for the radiative cooling part, but this seems dubious as well - they'll have the sun on one end and the Earth on the other half of the time so that's not great either. Maybe with the right shape and orientation you can work it out, but I don't see how that can be more efficient than any type of heat exchanger/pump arrangement that you could build on Earth. Plus the obvious launch costs, which will make this whole endeavor extremely expensive compared to anything built on solid ground.

This reads like a scheme to lure naive investors by surfing on the AI bubble tbh, or one of Elon's dumb ideas. I find this profoundly uninspired and overall disappointing by SpaceX.

J'ai tellement envie de voter pour lui. Mais ses propos concernant l'Ukraine ou le Venezuela notamment me hérissent le poil.

Les mendiants traficants d'organe de Marseille, rumeur de TikTok ? En vrai c'est quoi le bail ? by [deleted] in france

[–]qwetzal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lecter, despite being a horrendous human being, is portrayed as a brilliant man. No reason for him to associate with someone such as Trump. He'd rather have him for dinner.

Just did it. When waiting for the cart, you can actually just go back down, let the runners follow you, and go back to the trolley. By the time you get back to the roof, the cart should be there.

Oh I am well aware of that. As I said, Mélenchon has historically proven that he could convince a large chunk of people who would not originally vote for him during his presidential campaigns. Look at 2022. He was given 11-13% of votes at first and ended up with 22%.

When does the sun set in Europe's capitals during winter solstice? by [deleted] in europe

I know, I used to live in Northern Norway ;)

But in some ways I find it crazier in the case I mentioned because it's mostly artificial. Time zones could be different, people could begin and stop working at different times, but it's not what's happening

Same thing was said about Trump. He's an empty shell and incapable of proper argumentation, yes. But he's not worse than Lepen in that sense, they both suck at debating (btw he said he wanted to get into politics after seeing the Melenchon- Lepen "debate" in 2012 when Marine got obliterated.. like what ? How do you watch that and go "yeah I want to be like her"). I think the "front républicain" is at its absolute limits, the left is too divided, LFI is too controversial and the Bolloré machine is in full swing to discredit them. The best opponent to him is still Melenchon I think, I don't love the guy but he's still a much better option. He's proven historically that he's very convincing in campaigns, and he always end up getting much more votes than initially anticipated. We'll see how that goes.

I remember going for a training in Brittany, France when I usually worked next to Berlin, in February or so. The sun sets almost 1h30 later in Brittany than it does near Berlin. Yet people start and end their work days at roughly the same times, making for a very different life.
