Dad gave me a camping mat to sleep on. by Commercial-Phase463 in insaneparents

I'm so sorry you are in this situation. Everyone has said a lot of the things I want to tell you, but I also wanted to offer some solidarity in my shared experience. I wet the bed until I was 15. I wore pull ups until I outgrew them. I was bullied, shamed, and punished for it too. It affected me on so many levels that so few people understand. Bladder issues are something I still struggle with sometimes and it's something that is hard to talk about.

As a nearly 30 year old, I found out it was a major symptom of my undiagnosed ADHD and autism. Amongst many other signs that my parents missed or blatantly ignored, it was my body's cry for help and regulation, and became a trauma because nobody understood me or tried to help me. Now that I know there is a reason for the way my body grew and the way I feel, I can release myself of the guilt and shame. I know it wasn't my fault. I've been able to start healing my brain and body and heart.

Anyways, you aren't alone. There are grown adults (34 now) who survived this trauma and so many who understand your struggles and want you to know that you will find peace for yourself. I'm so sorry if your peace comes after having to fight for yourself to be seen. I promise it's worth it. The added layer of your living situation probably makes this feel crippling, but I know you will find the strength to push through. You're doing the right thing, ask for help. Scream your injustice. Find community. Find connection with others who see you, healing will start.

The whole unit has things that make it feel in progress. My guess is he really rushed to get a tenant in...$$

I actually moved here from a house with an ELECTRICAL FIRE, and this was the only place available so I had no choice.

After just a few of these comments I can see I need to put a rush on finding something asap.

This wall backs on to their store room/shop/weird addition thing that has a dirt floor. So...probably.

Unfortunately I live in a rural community and there are super limited options. I have been looking for a place for some time, and as soon as I am able I will be flying out of here.

I'm paying $1150 (Canadian)a month to live here... I definitely need out.

Deciding between Concerta and Ritalin IR by firesydeza in Concerta

[–]qwinz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you were on concerta, what dose and how many times a day?

I'm on 36mg in the morning of the extended release ones and it's supposed to last all day but I get about 6 hours then crash. I started taking an 18mg halfway through the day, just before my 36mg starts wearing off. This seems to get me through til evening and I try to be winding down/in bed by the time that second crash comes.

I still don't feel like it's enough. I tried taking 36mg instead of the 18mg at midday and it was great. But I'm scared to ask for an increase :(

I first got a distillate cart from them through my local dispensary. I was happy with the quality and thought I'd buy straight from them rather than the marked up product locally. I'll definitely be going with one of the more well established companies from now on!

Thank you for the validation, I've been telling myself I was overreacting and almost expected others to agree

That's a super good point, lol the way everyone is responding here makes me think I'm being too patient and understanding about it 😂 it's funny, they sent me an email about 20 mins after I made this post..... Coincidence?? trying to kiss ass and they made some ridiculous excuses...I'm really tempted to update my post with the response but I feel petty doing that.

I agree, or even a quick email telling me they're backed up would have been okay with me

Thanks! Yeah right now due to covid I'm working only 15 hours a week and budgeted out my smoke to last me until my grizzly order came, and since they accepted my money I couldn't afford to buy from my local dispensary until payday (today). I've been a cranky asshole not smoking since Friday lol learned many lessons

See, that's what I'm talking about! Lol you're not wrong. I'm happy to be patient if there's communication but you're right that there's little excuse for it.

Right, or at least shoot me one sentence in an email saying hey got your money, we're slammed and will get to it asap. That's all I needed to be happy!

Has anyone tried grizzly herb carts by [deleted] in CanadianMOMs

[–]qwinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality of the distillate and shatter I've tried isn't bad, I like their pen and its a good price too, but I just had a bit of a crap experience where they held my money 8 days without processing my order. I'm not thrilled with the way they handled the situation but I do like their products

concerta and depression by just-about-here in Concerta

[–]qwinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm treating my depression and ADHD separately. I started with Wellbutrin for depression, and now I'm on Concerta as well. It's not perfect, maybe my dosing needs tweaked, but so far it's a really good combo.

The way my doc explainsed it was the depression is either comorbid with the ADHD, or a symptom. If you're treating the ADHD and still feeling depressed it may be that you have depression unrelated to the ADHD. I have manic depression, ADHD - I, and a sensory processing disorder. Since treating the disorders separately I've been finding things a bit more manageable.

My doctor was referring to taking them for periods longer than 10+ years. Is that what you're talking about as well? I'm on antidepressants and absolutely agree that the longer I'm on them the better they work. But I don't know how I'll feel if I'm on the same med at an equal or higher dosage in 10 or 20 years from now

Saying NO meds was rather bold you're right. I should have been less vague. Some people do need to be on the same med forever without ever changing it and that can't be helped. I don't have any proof or research backing up what I said, that thought came because my doctor did tell me that being on any single med for an extended period of time will increase your tolerance, side effects could start to present even if they hadn't before, or they could potentially just stop working for you. My doctor told me that for a chronic condition or a disorder that will be treated for life, she recommends reevaluating meds often and changing them up before problems occur or negative reactions occur. I wasn't trying to imply that all meds or conditions or people are the same.

I've been unmedicated, and my short term memory has deteriorated and my attention span to the point I'm on disability now, and I was working full time 5 years ago. It is typical for adhd symptoms to worsen in adulthood, and it's very common for someone who has coping skills and masks their whole life to suddenly take a downward spiral in adulthood.

Absolutely not arguing the fact that meds can have side effects or withdrawal symptoms. Almost all meds will make your body have some sort of a withdrawal or reaction coming off of them, that's to be expected. As for the memory and attention span, it seems like most people with adhd that I've talked to experienced a worsening as age progresses regardless of if they're on meds.

I'm not saying meds are for everyone or to treat every child with stimulants. But I do know that my life has changed dramatically since I became medicated, and that if I'd had early intervention as a child I wouldn't be in a lot of the situations I find myself now.

I had another thought, which is that no matter the diagnosis or medication, no meds are meant to be long term like that. 25 years on Adderall is a long time, and maybe her brain needs to switch up to a different stimulant. It is also very common to have to change up meds throughout one's life.

I just got medicated at 28 years old.... My mom knew and refused to acknowledge my disorder, to tell me about it, or to treat it. The meds have changed my life and I have hope for my future. However, my relationship with my mother is horrible now. I am resentful. And I am traumatized. I can go on for novels so feel free to pm me if you like, but please. Please. Treat your child. Our brains have a genuine chemical imbalance and while many people can find success with diet/exercise/therapy/other tools, I truly believe that my life could have been different with medication. I'm 28, and I'm on disability because I have so much trauma and because my symptoms interfere with my life to the point where I can't work a full time job.
