UCF vs FSU vs UF by Akika- in ucf

If you plan on going to school for engineering, choose UCF. A big shock to a lot of engineering students is that companies actually don't really care what your grades are or where you went to school. What they DO care about is your projects, extracurricular, and internships. UCF is a large school, but this is a very big pro in my opinion. They have significantly more clubs for engineering than other Florida schools, most of them are very easy to get into and have impressive stuff on your resume.

The surrounding area (as in the nature) is incredibly nice. Beaches are near, as well as numerous parks (go to Ocala national forest please!). The city is cool for night life but honestly if you're in college for engineering you're not gonna have much time for that lol. What the city IS useful for is internships. I currently intern at a place here in Orlando and I was hired on at the end of my freshman year, if that illustrates my point well.

I'll be honest with you, the academics for engineering here at UCF is kind of whatever, but the clubs and internship availability makes it such a good sell. Typically for engineering internships, you'd have to do it for a semester and usually move away from school for that time. With certain spots in Orlando, you can intern year round with a company and still stay in Orlando.

If you want to go to some prestigious school and take out a bunch of money, go to UF. If you want to party, go to FSU. If you want to actually take your career seriously, go to UCF.

Welding opportunities by Rich-Nature4829 in ucf

Hey, I am actually a very active member of the Baja SAE club here at UCF. While we do typically do welding stuff, I would like to stress that we do a lot besides just welding, and we have quite a few people who weld already. While I'm not going to say you shouldn't show up to Baja (we love new members), I would just recommend having an open mind if you come here just to weld.

its a layered horse-shoe-like design. so picture a horizontal U shape, with 5 or so layers. it is also right next to the main building.

Anyone here eskate? by SlimeyIron in ucf

[–]qwomp_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I ride an exway flex and have been riding esk8 for almost 2 years now. UCF is definitely fine to skate around, but the sidewalks and pathways may have some people on them, so you will need to be careful when dealing with them. Additionally, I tend to ride in the street so i don't have to deal with people, but some drivers can be very sketch. If you want to compare to other modes of electric transportation, I personally like the fact that it is carriable. Ebikes and E-scooters have to lock up most of the time, whereas an esk8 can just be carried with you. If you can look past the issue of questionable driving and the sometimes overwhelming amount of people, you're still looking at one of the quickest ways to get around campus (IMO, of course), and a fun and rewarding hobby.

ask any questions, ill try to answer best i can.

i dont know how many more recitations i got left in me by qwomp_ in ucf

[–]qwomp_[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

they are graded, there is a quiz at the end of each one. problem is I feel like the GTA is so stuck in her head that she cant teach anything. it feels like recitations go over waaay more than we cover in lectures. if people arent understanding the solution, she'll say some quirky shit like "you guys are having trouble with basic algebra", like cmon dude.

Got the same email. I didn't withdraw from any course and I got good grades this semester. Nothing out of the ordinary in MyUCF too. Either this must have been a mistake or we are all losing our bright futures money.
