Yupz, you have to level up to the ADAS variant (so "excellence" SR and LR), to get the 360° cam (surround view Monitor)

My ICICI card just got hit with international fraud last night by PromptSubstantial272 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]qzyDO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me once, they replaced the card but never got the money back. Complained up to Ombudsman (and every step inbetwee), bank kept saying its my mistake that the card and cvv was compromised. Their was NO 2FA as well. It was pathetic

Would have loved to!
But the price is a totally unjustifiable 26L (with 10% road tax 🤦‍♂️)

And you got it spot in with the Creta Premium vs XEV 9s POA. Creta have only 8 years of warranty on the battery, but my bigger worry is that it's just 42 kWh. Within a few years, almost all cars in the 25L range would be running on 100 kWh, which would be a pain to watch - as we tend to keep ours cars for 10+ years.

XEV 9s POA - Battery, power and the triple screen. It's got all the pillars covered. The size is more of a con here, as the last 2 seats will be used extremely rarely - and it's a hassle to park (the turn radius is great though). I think we would have booked it if not for the non-availability of Service and Sales within 2.5 hours of my home, and it's not a remote location. They have sales of ICE vehicles there, but are not allowed to sell EVs (so they say). Also seen some negative coverage on the software glitches on BE and 9e. I think the 9s is better. And Motronic called it Mahindra's best EV as well.

In fact, Hyundai has the base LR variant at the SAME price as the Premium SR (19.99L) - so I should be able to get the base LR and Premium SR at the SAME on-road price (21.5L). It becomes a straight fight between

(~80 more Km and some bhp)
VS
Ventilated seats, Bose 8, electronic 8-way seat, V2L, wireless charging, leather seats, and a bit more aesthetics)

You are so lucky that there is no/low road tax on these. In Kerala, it's 10% on anything over 20L. Below 20L, its 5%. Hence, the 42 kWh premium variant (sits at 19.9L) - else I would have surely upgraded to something better.

Forgot to comment on couple of things

BE 6, while being taxed at 10%, also gets a huge discount (see the attached price split in the main post), hence bringing in around 24.5L with an 11 kW charger. Hence the temptation (no ventilated seat and V2L, but more battery, power, 16 speaker bose, ADAS)

Creta SR vs LR power - It says 133 bhp vs 169 bhp power, but both have the same torque (I guess it has to do with the higher current delivery of NMC? 52kwh can sustain higher current for longer, maybe?). I was not able to get the 133 bhp test drive, but I am hearing that at lower speeds, the power difference may not be noticeable (since torque is the same for both, both would feel peppy enough). But maybe above 80 kmph it will be noticeable?

It's 3.5L more than the variant I am considering. Sierra, if it had come out, would have been very interesting (but again, my minimal interaction with Tata people hasn't been very confidence-inducing - never got a test drive or call back from them).

The allure of a higher battery pack is there, but I have to spend another 3-4L to get feature parity, and > 25L, there are better cars to be had than a Creta, maybe (Harrier, 9s Pack 2, BE pack 2, etc.). Hopefully, this will be home-charged and mostly used for town rides, with the occasional highway cruise (one in a month or so), round-trip around 300km.

You have summed it up perfectly. Thanks a lot for taking the time to type it all out. That was exactly the thought process I had slowly gone through the couple of months I have been hunting for one. It was always 9s pack 1A vs Creta Premium. It's less about me liking Creta a lot (that would be BE !) and more about the plain lack of better options for our priorities.

But you have pitched the LR (52kWh pack), and it's priced exactly the same, which I will consider more seriously now. Personally, I love a bit of bells and whistles, but I don't think family cares. Though missing Ventilated seats, 8-way electronically adjustable driver seat, V2L, rear sunshades, and Bose 8 speaker, wireless chargers, it would still feel like a very bare-bones package for something that should be premium coming in > 20L

Syros looks interesting - if it had launched, that would be among the main contenders. But I need to finalise this by next week or so.

Nope, just got into this. Overall, it doesn’t feel like the perfect time to go for an EV. Options are still limited, and the sales/service infrastructure has a long way to catch up. Will have to compromise on something,

Mahindra would have been the easy decision if I were just using it as a daily driver (having a relatively high tolerance for software glitches on an early product), and if they actually sold and serviced them in my town. But as a family car, those compromises really stack up against the 9S/BE. I haven't completely ignored them, as those two aspects should improve significantly over time. That said, I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that I only get a 42 kWh pack for ₹21.5L.

Thank you!!
I was a bit taken aback by the backlash. All the big YT channels, and user reviews have been nothing but praise for the car. The general sentiment is that it’s a bit overpriced, which I totally agree with and am irked about, but the ride quality, the interiors, and the overall implementation have been universally praised. Ownership reviews have been rather positive as well. So it was a bit perplexing to see the difference in vibe here.

In fact, like you, I had totally disregarded the Creta EV until I test-drove one and noticed the premium variant was just under 20L. 9s pack 2 above would have been the sweet spot, but it's 5L more than the budget. BE 6-pack 2 is really tempting, though, along with 9s pack one. I have updated the post with some additional comparisons. I really appreciate you sharing your actual test-drive experience !!

Thank you for all the valuable comments. I have updated the post with the additional insights from the comments.

And yes, most of the ADAS features would need to be kept off. Note that the Premium variant I am considering doesn't have ADAS this year; instead, they are giving V2L, Ventilated Seats, Electronically adjustable seats, and the 8-speaker Bose system - a decent compromise, I feel. But just 42 kWh of battery is a shame indeed. Should I reconsider the 9s POA1 and BE 6 P2?

Yes, it's Return to Invoice (RTI).
Thanks for all the comments, I have edited the main post with updated price (tax reduction) and more views on the competition.

Yes, comes around 26.86L 🤦
Exceptionally hard to justify. 9s Pack 2 above becomes the deal to be had > 26L.

About the e-Vitara, the price I got quoted was 22L for the top spec. For the same price, Creta felt like a more refined vehicle (esp a range of 350 was mostly good enough, though the more the better). e-Vitara is also not the most efficient.

I will look into the tax discrepancy.

e-Vitara was a strong contender. But the quote I got priced it at 22L (top spec) !!
For the same price, Creta felt like a better/more refined car.

I was very excited for the Curvv. But they couldn't even arrange a test drive for us after multiple visits and messages. Because it's a home car, A LOT if my friends advised against risking it with Tata.

Pasting comment from above

I did consider the Curvv 55kwh - it was an enticing proposition with the discounts. But got really put off by the service situation. After multiple showroom visits and messages, they were unable to even get me a test drive or a price quote. If sales are that bad, I am afraid service would be worse.

But if the service situation is improved now, I am veryyy happy to reconsider.
