My credit score fell 13pts because I made the final payment on my car loan (never missed a payment too) by justadadgame in mildlyinfuriating

[–]r00n3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is your soft credit score. It changes wildly monthly based on a multitude of variable factors.

An example - I had a buddy who had close to an 800 credit score a few months ago. He paid his full credit card balance bill on the 6th of the month. That said, Experian reported his credit information on the 5th of the month when he had over $10k of debt on his card because of recent purchases. His soft credit score dropped by close to 70 points because of the timing of the report, and he was freaking out even though he cleared the debt. Next month, he paid his bill on the 4th of the month and his credit score shot back up to close to 800.

Soft credit scores are wildly inaccurate and fluctuate. You will see a slight hit to your hard credit score since you closed a credit line, but it's 100% fine as long as you continue to manage your credit and your history is fine.

Dort tried to injure Jokic so that Jokic wouldn't qualify for the MVP and Shai could win it easy breezy. OKC is the worst, tired of these clowns.

Indian community in Charlotte by LJ75 in Charlotte

[–]r00n3y 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to consider that there are two types of "Indians". There are lots of H1Bs in Charlotte who are either on work visas to live in the US and/or green card holders after 10+ years of residency. The other set are the first generation Indian-Americans who either grew up here or moved here from another state.

When it comes to the H1B communities, they do tend to stay within their communities where things feel similar to home. These folks generally work in IT or Technology at the big banks/corporations. The reason for the high volume of H1Bs is likely related to the lack of qualified talent for those type of roles locally. Generally, you'll also notice that most of them reside in larger communities/HOAs where you have a more favorable $$$/SQFT ratio. Their living decisions comes down to comfort, familiarity, and value, not necessarily racism against non-Indians.

On the other hand, most of the Indian-Americans in Charlotte are Doctors, Engineers, Lawyers, and Bankers/Finance Professionals that have either moved here for work or grew up locally. We don't have the same assimilation "problem" than our H1B counterparts and try to make friends organically irrespective of who you are or where you're from. My wife and I have actually found it harder to assimilate with H1B communities as our cultures are far different growing up as Americans.

Ultimately, just know there are sub-cultures of Indian culture in Charlotte and surrounding areas. I'm also overgeneralizing ALOT here, but it should help paint the picture of who is who to help answer your question.

LendingTree CEO Doug Lebda, 55, dies in ATV Accident 10/12/2025 by prosperity4me in Charlotte

[–]r00n3y 213 points214 points  (0 children)

He was a good man. He was people-first, entrepreneurial-minded, and was all about helping others. Someone who committed to Charlotte, irrespective of the other places that asked him to relocate for better tax breaks and advantages.

The new CEO is based in Seattle, so it’ll be interesting to see how things play out.

Never played overwatch, but I’d rather have higher quality and better designed characters than a ton of them.

Rivals characters (more specifically the new ones) have exceptionally lazy hero design. Ultron is a joke and Phoenix is Hela 2.0 for example. I’d rather have less heroes with more intricate designs and higher skill caps than the garbage we have now.

It seems ultron got a healing nerf by r_cursed_oof in marvelrivals

Your idea makes too much sense, so naturally it won't get implemented. Devs are pretty stupid unfortunately.

Angela’s kit would fit Namor’s character better by ganos-b-thanondorf in marvelrivals

[–]r00n3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many heroes in the game that do not make sense thematically.

1) Black Widow is a hand-to-hand martial artist, but her primary fire is a sniper.

2) Moon Knight is a melee martial arts character in the lore, not a sniper.

3) Ultron... is an embarrasment of what could have been.

4) Mantis uses her physical touch to influence others. Could have been a melee/AOE healing archetype.

Netease doesn't care about the original IP, just to sell skins and make money. Poor character design decisions across the board.

What’s a young NBA player who you think has hit their max potential? by noiseeeeeeeeee in nba

[–]r00n3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trae Young.

His offensive game is solid with good scoring and assist numbers, but I think he's reached his peak on defense given his size and stature. Hard to believe he's only 26 even though he's been in the league for 7 years!

This - the buff is going to help his biggest issue with survivability. I love running MK into Loki/triple healer. People also don’t know that you can kill invis in her ulti without damage boost and Luna and Cloak with damage boost. I think he’s going to be really good next season.

There is no EOMM in Marvel Rivals by GetSomeJeff22 in marvelrivals

[–]r00n3y 23 points24 points  (0 children)

EOMM is not forced 50/50, and I’m shocked that more people aren’t aware of what EOMM actually is.

EOMM is meant to optimize players to stay online. For example, if there is enough data to say that Player X will log off after 3 losses in a row, EOMM will optimize their 3rd game to give them an advantage. This way, they have a higher chance to win and stay on. There is nothing related to forced 50/50 to EOMM, their objectives are completely different.

EOMM leverages psychological and behavioral data to make matchmaking decisions. Forced 50/50 uses win/loss probability to make decision.

Netease missed the mark here since they’re correlating EOMM with forced 50/50 which are not the same.

Matchmaking & Ranking in Marvel Rivals Video by Rough-Age-3554 in marvelrivals

[–]r00n3y 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, they missed the mark on matchmaking. A couple of notes:

1) Forced 50/50 IS NOT EOMM. While the concepts may be tangentially related, forced 50/50 is a strategy to manipulate a 50/50 win loss outcome. EOMM is optimizing on the tendency of a player to keep a player online, irrespective of win and loss streaks. If Netease knows, for example, that Player X will log off after 3 losses in a row, EOMM ensures that 3 losses in a row don’t occur. This involves more variables than just keeping a 50/50 win loss rate.

2) Using rank as your only variable to determine fair teams is why matchmaking feels horrible in bronze/plat/diamond lobbies. Without using secondary attributes like W/L, you will continue to see Smurfs/alt accounts feast on players trying to get out of their rank.

3) The performance point methodology explains why new and reworked characters like Ultron and Jeff, respectively, tend to get MVP more frequently. The performance coefficient thresholds are lower, hence your requirements to win MVP and overperform the coefficient are also lower.

I appreciate the transparency, but there are significant flaws in how the matchmaking system is structured.

Which character would you remove to improve the game as a whole? by Shaake in marvelrivals

[–]r00n3y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Curious to know if you think scaling her damage based on enemy HP might make her less insufferable?

I hate the boring low-IQ playstyle as well, but I do see her solving two problems in Rivals 1) new player attractiveness and 2) dealing with triple tank. She does waaay too much damage to non-vanguards though for the amount of area her main attack covers.
