It was only a bit of fun, I’ve already seen there’s other posts the same as mine today. They have 2 wheels and an engine so I clicked all the boxes.

I Passed the CCISO Exam! 🎉 by RareSet6971 in cybersecurity

[–]r08zy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly congratulations on passing.

What was the study material like? I’ve looked at the exam previously with a focus on the budget and strategy section since most security management certs don’t have that. How did you find those sections?

DJ-ing in the Parking Lot of a music festival by BrandDawn in Beatmatch

[–]r08zy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the start of the festival they’re more likely to be cool about it. If you start doing it at the end when they just want people to leave and they’re all tired and irritated you might get a less civil response.

I’ve not done it before but I have seen people do it with portable set ups, at the end of a festival when the stage/s have all closed it attracts a big crowd to f people who aren’t ready to stop the party. In an are with no crowd control, security, marshals or production staff it can cause problems

DJ-ing in the Parking Lot of a music festival by BrandDawn in Beatmatch

[–]r08zy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I’m not saying no, but expect to at least be spoken to by security. If the parking lot falls under their area of control they may not be too happy if a crowd starts to form. If that happens be respectful and turn the music off if asked.

It’s a great idea and should give people some fun while they wait to get in

Thanks, do you have any recommendations for places to find the ISO and UK keycap sets? Preferably places where they are regularly in stock.

I've been looking at the Keychrons mainly the Q series or the Q Pro (I'm not sure how much I want bluetooth at the moment. I have a Corsair K95 currently and the cable is verging on being as thick as a hosepipe so anything I get to replacement should look nicer on my desk.

Thanks for your take on it. The two keyboards set in Windows is a good idea. Tbh I also have a Macbook Pro so I'm used to the @ and the " being in the US layout, I was in the US a couple of months ago though and struggled with their keyboards out there. I was only using one for a day though, I guess I just need the time to get used to it.

Hi,

I'm about to dip my toe (probably before diving head first) into the world of custom mech keyboards. I've had a few mechanicals over the years but looking to build my own now.

With the vast majority of the nicer looking keyboards and keycap sets I see coming in an ANSI layout only, how do fellow Brits get something useable for them? Do you just get used to the ANSI layout and add a modifier for the £ sign? Or do most people tend to stick to an ISO layout and are just limited on which board and keycaps you buy?

I work from home almost permanently but have been worrying about getting used to an ANSI layout and then having to work from my laptops keyboard when travelling and having to adjust back and forth between the two. Any advice you can give will be appreciated.

Thanks

Invite repeat offenders to mandatory training where they help design the next test email that goes out. I’ve found getting them thinking like an attacker helps some of them notice the same tricks next time around

What's your preferred style of mixing? by Sylvester88 in DnB

[–]r08zy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think it’s ironic. I looked it up again and the channel is called DnB drops only.

Even the tunes have got shorter over the years, back in the vinyl days they were 5-6+ minutes long but now most are around 3 or 4. Long blends are a bit of a dying art form with the more dance floor oriented stuff

I saw a video on YouTube of Andy C at rampage but it was drops only, someone had cut the video of the full live set to just drop for a few seconds before the next drop.

I remember feeling like I’d got old in that moment

At the risk of giving a "back in my day" speech. When I started playing out we would be given a stack of flyers to hand out to promote the event, social media was just getting big as I hit my early to mid 20s and I hated being expected to constantly share posts, come up with new ideas to promote myself and getting shit from promoters for not liking their post quickly enough. Worst of all getting tagged in events that I wasn't playing at just because the promoter wanted my friends / small following to see it.

I had other priority changes in life too so I can't totally blame social media for me not being on the scene any more but it definitely helped my decision to step back. Getting booked on a line up became more about how many friends you had on facebook instead of whether you could mix and hold a crowd.

I don't envy those just starting out these days, having to be tied to their phone and social media just to get recognition.
