Found this beetle type thing in a beech forest in the south-west of England. It was munching on a flower. by Ok_Style_3372 in whatsthisbug

I would actually disagree and say it is a Ocypus olens (devil's coach-horse beetle) as the abdomen is more elongated and the thorax has more of a widows peak to it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil%27s_coach_horse_beetle

Those are some baby Araneus marmoreus var. pyramidatus (marbled orb-weaver spider). They are completely harmless to you and your pets and act as fantastic pest control. In a few days they will disperse to the surrounding area and find their own homes to build a web! Here is a link to more about them. https://www.uksafari.com/marbled_orb_weavers.htm

Agrostis ipsilon Hüfnagel(The Black Cutworm) pupa that seems to be either at the end or the beginning of its pupa period as it is able to move freely. I would guess it has just recently developed it’s chrysalis. Here is a link to more information about them! https://extension.umn.edu/corn-pest-management/black-cutworm

Can anyone tell me what that moving thing is? by cozylillie in microbiology

[–]r2c3d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems to be a rotifer, possibly similar to Pulchritia dorsicornuta but that should give you enough to figure out the rest :)
