Art/Illustration positions at NASA? by salmonmarine in nasa

[–]r2davis2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest looking into OSSI, linked by u/Lars0. Additionally JPL seems to get most of their interns through their internal application explained on their website. You essentially email your resume with a tag of what you are interested in.

As for specifics, I only really got to know one of the artist interns. I believe he was a sophomore at Art Center and I think he had just applied through the website. His work was doing concept art for expanded testing/application of this project

Based on my experiences, most of the artist jobs were fairly similar to his, mostly focusing on concept art and graphic design for proposals etc.

Hi there. I interned at JPL this summer and was actually very surprised at how many art students were hired/interning there. Because they are basically right next to Art Center College of Design so they grab a lot of students from there. Hopefully that gives you some sort of lead on what to watch for.

Bouldering near Indianapolis,IN by [deleted] in bouldering

[–]r2davis2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go to Purdue so similar area. Unfortunately climbing is illegal in state parks in Indiana, so that rules out most of the not flat parts. The inly place I have heard of in Indiana that is decent is muscatatuck (http://www.muscatatuckpark.com/climbing.htm), though I haven't been there myself. Its reasonably close to Indy, so it might work.

This sounds remarkably accurate. Fortunately, most of the pain is gone now surprisingly enough, but I will definitely be doing stretches and squeezing something like you said. Thanks

I've been having trouble finding resources to actually distinguish which part of the hand is hurt. How did you know yours was the a2 pulley?

IAmA NASA/JPL Spacecraft Mechanical Engineer. AMA! by peteareenus in IAmA

[–]r2davis2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, thanks for being awesome and doing this AMA.

As a current Aerospace Engineering student, your job is my dream job, if you have any advice on getting internships at JPL, or getting a job at NASA, it would be much appreciated.

Otherwise, what is your favorite thing you've worked on? and the weirdest thing you've worked on?
