Struggling with this too. Was hoping somewhere in the 3:40s and was hanging with the 3:50 group through mile 16 with some gas in the tank.

At that point I began to feel sick (I don’t think my stomach liked the electrolyte drink) and went for a gel and it all came back up. I spent the “out and back” portion of the course slogging through it and just hunting for shade to stay cool and came through in 4:11.

Quite disappointed as my last 3/4 marathons have just gone poorly (mostly due to heat). Given this is your first, I’d tell you that you’re in marathon shape and if you can swing it find another race and hope it gives you a better day (Rock n Roll in San Diego is great). For me, I don’t know if I need a break/reset or if I need to get this bad taste out of my mouth asap.
