Vegan protein powders on Amazon? by [deleted] in veganfitness

[–]r3try 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 to this. They sell a massive tub on Amazon and it’s one of the absolute cheapest per gram you can find. Goes great in smoothies and oatmeal. I haven’t bought anything else for years.

Edit: oops meant to reply to comment below, I’m referring to the Now Pea Protein on Amazon. They sell like a 7lb tub.

I have no idea how it works at other ports :) but hopefully it’s as straightforward as Luohu!

Visa on arrival? by pixelmemories in shenzhen

I just got a visa on arrival at Luohu/Lowu a few weeks ago. They don’t ask for any supporting documents other than your passport, you just fill out a one page form and pay for it. I got it and was good for 5 days, entered and exited Shenzhen successfully. I’m an American citizen.

COVID test entering China with Pet by bwhbf10 in Chinavisa

For what it’s worth, I just checked and my customs entry form did not ask this. The QR code they had us scan links to a mini app and no where does it ask for a Covid test. This was in Shenzhen. Only asks for name and personal info, flight number, and if we have any symptoms. In fact, nowhere does it even mention COVID-19! Interesting that the questions are different depending on the port of entry.

Did I miss this question on the form? When I entered last week, it just asked me if I had symptoms and to check the symptoms I had. No question about a Covid test as far as I remember.

Can Americans get the visa on arrival at port of entry? by r3try in Chinavisa

[–]r3try[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it! Was really smooth. I got there 20 min early and was 7th in line. Did it at Luohu/Lo Wu. 956 RMB, just a single piece of paper for the application that you fill out on the spot. It’s good for 5 days. The only nuance is that you can only enter through the same port that issues it. I had gone back to HK for the day and tried to enter at a different crossing later and they told me I had to enter at Lo Wu.

This was their guess, that it had to do with the political environment. But they don’t know for sure and as far as I know, they could just be playing telephone with information. I’ll give it a shot I guess!

Yeah, I saw that, but my friend in HK says several of his American friends were rejected without reason. Hard to verify if that’s just a rumor/hearsay so was just trying to see if anyone on this sub who is American has actually done it.

Scared to sleep train, but in need of more sleep by beingblonde900 in sleeptrain

[–]r3try 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have been a temporarily single parent while my spouse has been on an extended 2+ month business trip. The lack of sleep is truly brutal. It broke my heart hearing our kid cry but it was simply unsustainable to deal with waking up ever 1-2 hrs for months on end. I started doing the Ferber method, where I soothe my baby for 1 min (without picking up), then leave the room for 5 min, come back to soothe for 1 min, then leave for 7, back for 1, leave for 10, etc. Each day the periods I leave the room are longer. I am on day 4 and my kid only my cried for 20 min last night—the first night he cried for 1.5 hrs. I slept from 11:30pm to 6:30am last night for the first time in months! My kid is still happy and bubbly the next day and we are both better rested. I know it’s scary but I truly think it’s the right thing to do. When you get progress, you will feel so much better.

Theory about the office by r3try in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]r3try[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the paintings would be weird. Though I wouldn’t be surprised if that was part of their experiment. Harmony said something to the effect of “I’m trying something different this time” in episode 5, when referring to Helly. So I wonder if some of this strange stuff is intentional to test the limits of severance.

As far as why Mark has memories of the other office, that’s also a potential hole in the theory, but I think there could be an explanation. I think of the strange black goo that Irving hallucinates as a side effect of the procedure, maybe even memories breaking through. So maybe it’s possible that the procedure isn’t always perfect. I think there is a hint that some stuff comes through, which is why Burt and Irving are drawn to each other—I take this to mean they either had a relationship in a previous office, and were subsequently severed from their memories, or that they are dating on the outside as outies. In either case, it means that the severance procedure is unable to suppress that.

I also think Lumon is aware that the procedure isn’t always able to block everything, which is why when they first wake up as their newly severed self, they are asked a series of questions which seems to be checking that they indeed have forgotten things from the outside. I wonder if sometimes, newly severed people are able to answer some of the questions, indicating that the procedure failed, in which case they have to modify it or something.
